What's your best computer game experiences?

Mine would be Defender of the Crown in the late 80's and The Secret of Monkey Island in the early 90's.

Myst absolutely blew my mind in the mid 90's.

In the early 0's it was Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast and Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

In the late 0's it was Fallout 3 and Skyrim. I still occasionally play these games, haven't really moved on.

Overall I think Fallout 3 has been my best gaming experience ever.

What's yours?

A big Doom and Doom II fan here. I even bought the rerelease for play station when it came out.

I used to love playing Lucasarts adventure games like Monkey Island and its sequel back on my old Amiga, I remember spending far too much time playing Sid Meier's Pirates! too.

On the PC, Starcraft, Red Alert and the first Tomb Raider games with early video cards were amazing, Doom and Quake were fun too!

Other than playing Quake or Need for Speed with friends on LAN, Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption was my first online internet experience with gamers, the single player of VtM:R was pretty good too!

Myst was incredible.

I also like a game called D.
Kind of a mystery puzzle game.
Takes place in a hospital with Laura looking to find out why
her father who was doctor when on killing spree.
It also had different endings depending on what choices you made.
Very unique for it's time.

Did you play 7th Guest too? Not sure if Myst was a sequel or just a follow-up by the same designers, but I feel like it was a sequel.

reply

I did although I never finished it. It was a different series than Myst but it was heavily influenced by Myst like many adventure games were in the mid-90s. 7th guest had a brilliant atmosphere and it was actually rather creepy. Did you play it too?

reply

I was definitely wrong about Myst being developed by the same people, but Myst and 7th Guest actually came out in the same year, 1993.

I did play it, but like you, never finished it. Then of course the sequel was 11th Hour, which for some reason I thought was the name of my own "fan sequel" idea for the game.

I never tried Myst, although I do believe there is now a live-rendered version of it now. It's no longer made of pre-rendered scenes.

From my grandfather, I inherited a floppy disk (google it youngsters) featuring a Nightmare on Elm Street game. Oh man the fun times began the moment I got that thing.

In the late 70s and 80s it was arcade games like Space Invaders, Pac Man, Asteroids, and pinball machines! Glorious pinball machines.

In the 90s some of my favorites were Myst, Riven, The 7th Guest, and Monty Python's Complete Waste of Time. My dad was into Doom.

Lately I've been into Hearthstone, Overwatch and Heroes of the Storm.

My best gaming experience was either the arcade games of my college days or Myst. My dream would be to have a whole room of pinball machines! Myst was cool, too.
