I don't care how many people an actor raped/molested, I'm still watching their movies.

Can you really expect me to stop watching Se7en because Kevin Spacey is in it? If I'm in the mood for watching it then so be it. Do people who avoid watching things because of an actor's personal life really go: "Man, I really wanna watch Chinatown right now, but the director did some terrible stuff in his personal life so I'm never watching it again"? Why should David Fincher have to be affected because of what Spacey did?

Fair enough.

Personally there are artists whose work I don't want to see, and that isn't a deliberate decision or necessarily a moral judgement - I just took at them and go "eeeew!". It's an emotional reaction, and once it takes place it stays, there's no appeal and usually no redemption from the "eeeew!" reaction. All artists can do about people like me is refrain from being assholes or predators in the first place.

I am really good at separating the art from the artist. That being said, if the rape/molestation happened during the making of the movie, I don't think I would watch it. For example, I won't watch Clownhouse. Salva did time for what he did on that set, so that one is out. Now anything that he has made since, I will watch. He's done his time, his actors know what he was guilty of, and no one has made any accusations since.

I still watch Polanski movies. I listen to Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, Rolling Stones, Chuck Berry, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, and Elvis. There are more, but I don't like to think about it. I would watch reruns of the Cosby Show. I can still read Harry Potter. That doesn't mean that I agree with what any of these artists have done. I would prefer that they don't get my money in some of these cases, but I'm not going to burn books, dvds, or cds that I already have just because the artist is a shitty person.

Stories like that make me so angry and sad. If it were a 17-19 year old neighbour boy and you were a 9-11 year old girl, think of the reaction. Then question why one is completely unacceptable, and the other is something that you should have been excited about. I'm so sorry that that was your experience.

me too. Pelvic exam when I was 19 that included a light anal exam. Nothing really happened but I realized later this wasn't normally part of the exam.

You know I almost made a very flippant comment about Kevin Spacey. I think that we have to check our prejudices at the door. Can a gay man do horrible things to underage gay guys, yes. But honestly I had several jokes ready on this one, and then I stepped back and thought about posting those things, and realized not cool.

30 guys filed complaints about this guy. I have to step back and say not funny. So why do we make jokes, because most young guys want sex all the time, so it can't be abuse. I honestly don't know, its so far out of my comfort zone, but 30 is not a small number.
