Neglected Gems

Name a movie that you love that almost nobody you know has seen or cared for
It could be brilliant or silly, funny or scary...anything goes!

'Ride With the Devil' is my pick...
A quite good cast, performances were great, the bittersweet romance and brutal violence were perfectly portrayed, some of the dialogue is still with me after many years and the production values were top shelf
This is one fine forgotten beauty of a film!
See it if you can find it:)
You got one?

reply

The way of the gun. Why nobody saw that is a mystery to me

Very original in so many different aspects. Hard to go into without spoiling too much.
I don't think its perfect, but I don't think anybody will say they have seen a very similar flick before.

For me, its the most entertaining 8/10 movie I have ever seen.

Remo Unarmed and dangerous:

Apparently based on a series of books called ‘The Destroyer’ series:

It’s about this cop called Sam Makin who unwillingly and until too late unknowingly is given a faked death, a new face and a new name, Remo Williams.

And he’s re-trained as a sort of secret agent for CURE, a secret agent organization for the USA.

He’s trained by this Korean marshal arts expert called Chiun and is taught how to dodge bullets, walk on water and run over wet cement and stuff.

The film was a box office flop, and the fans of the books hated it because it deviated from them a bit.

I thought it was a great movie, the chemistry between Remo and Chiun was brilliant and it’s quite a funny film I think with well places jokes in it.

(By the way where's the reply button? because this post isn't supposed to be a reply to Chomsky89s post just a reply to the thread in general)

Pleased to meet you

I enjoyed that one
Hell of a cast!
Del Toro, Caan, Lewis, Diggs...even if it stunk id watch it for the actors

reply

Caan was great

reply

Caan is a great guy from what ive heard
I know an older woman who was into disco and clubs back in the 70s and early 80s (she was probably really 'hot stuff' back then)
Caan and his boys picked her and her girlfriends up at a Disco in NYC one night...this aint going where one would expect it to go...
He paid for drinks, a huge meal for at least 8 people and even had a limo lined up
Naughty advances or bad behavior...not a bit of that!
She told me he was charming, funny as hell and a real sport
Night of her life she said!
So i asked her why she didnt get his number
She told me he was known to be that way...funny, generous, a good time guy who just socialized and liked meeting people
Caan deserves legend status
Hes a boss

reply

Just thought of

King of the Ants
3 Iron
Los Cronocrimenes
Underworld
House Of Games

reply

Im not shocked to say that youve stumped me again goshdarnitall!!
Ive heard of only two of these and meant to watch Los Crono (it was 'Timecrimes' when it was in my watchlist) but now its gone...like tears in the rain...expired like a treacherous auto inspection tag even...
And now im weeping
Nice job man:(

reply

All decent. Time Crimes (as you call it-so cute) is really good. Get it back on there.

Didn't mean to make you cry.
Blame it on the Boom Boom.

reply

I meant to watch but you know...so many movies, so little time
And why is that 'cute?'
Thats how it was listed on streaming last time i saw it silly!

🎶Didnt mean to make you cry
If im not back again this time tomorrow, carry on, carry on...🎶
*either youre quoting my dudes Queen or excusing your mean bullying behavior...so all good i guess

Im not sure what the 'boom boom' is but im certain i want no part of it!

reply

You earthlings always crack me up with all your rules. Still worth a watch.

This is a no bullying zone.

Just so happened to be listening to this at the time.

I think it was the right choice.

Its pretty fun here on the big blue marble GD...
Come visit us #EarthGirlsAreEasy

I tend to agree with the 'no bullying' thing...

Link 1 was ok...i admit i didnt love it...good background music in a bar i guess but cool enough i get it

Link 2 was very good...straight up pole dancer music
Those gals are athletes
Reminds me of New Orleans...another place im never going back to...it stank of vomit, stale Beer and sweat and every morning a water truck drove past our hotel terrace spraying the streets down:(
Fun but gross

Continue to make good choices! You matter:)

reply

You're hashtags are coming along nicely.

My house has been established as a giant bar so I feel it's appropriate.

I saw those guys this summer. It's a fun show.
I've heard horror stories about New Orleans. I think I'll steer clear.

Not so long ago I would have left you with this.

I'm also trying to teach hownos how this is works sometimes.
I also volunteered you to catch him if he falls after he becomes The Dean.
Hope you don't mind.

#ThxBro

No bullying in your home is a fine policy...how else could you save your priceless Hummel collection from damage?

New Orleans...the food was amazing, the music worth hearing, the people were not nice at all (i was wearing my Yankee cap half the time so that might have been my fault) and there were several murders over a 5 day stay:(
NO LIE 3 murders...
Never again

hownoes is my dude
I got his back
But dont you go anywhere anytime soon
'Shane...come back Shane'

reply

Those Hummel's are priceless. PRICELESS I tell you.

You neglected to mention the Yankee cap.
If that's the case you pretty much got what you deserved.

Now thats just bullying plain and simple:(

Thank you Det. brokowski

Brolling Stones made me giggle
Well done Dewey
You win this time (again)

reply

I'm glad somebody did.

I'm starting to scrape the bottom now.
Ya know what I mean brolverine.

See what I mean.

reply

I get it jerry broheimer

reply

Which one of you two is the most buff by now ? 😁

reply

LOL!
Dewey is super buff

I tried to beat him up for months after the first time i met him...he was the biggest boy on the schoolyard and i like a good rumble

Dewey by a mile in terms of buffness

The ladies tell me hes sexy and the lads admire his Hummel collection

Hes quite a fella!

reply

Ok, trying to visualize Gomez Addams as " super buff. " Give me time, I'll get there eventually. 😁

reply

ADOLPHE MENJOU if you please.

reply

He was my first choice. Couldn't remember the name so he blurred with Addams, but having some trouble with the Charles Atlas body for the time being. Like I said, just need a little time.

reply

I could take a pic if you need.
It's actually very surreal.

Take your time.
It's totally understandable.

reply

Not even close.
EAST COAST. What ???

Some day you can ride the horse into the sunset
like me. Just like Broy Rogers.

OK, that one almost made me gag.

reply

I liked 'broy rogers'
Well done

And you must stay
Youre the king bud
No more of this 'goodbye' business
You just stay and we will continue the party

reply

As long as I can my friend, as long as I can.

I'm going to regress and go for
Teddy Brosevelt.

It's late. Please forgive.

reply

Adios Bromigo
Until manana

reply

I've done the tests and yonker guy has passed.

Barely, but he's passed. :)
He'll be around for awhile.

In my mind it's me but reality always sets in doesn't it.

reply

This makes me think of the movie Joy Ride where the evil trucker Rusty Nail says at the end, "Love a good rain....washes everything clean ! " 😁

reply

I meant to do that!
*purely coincidental to be honest:)

reply

Of COURSE this is a bullying zone, Dewey! Look at how many milquetoast masochists *cough* Croft *cough* there are here, begging to have their ears boxed.

reply

Ha! I hear ya.

I was trying to be nice to yonker guy.
I didn't want to crush his spirit. He can be , well, a little fragile sometimes.
He's a good kid though.

reply

Macabre (1980)
Blood Rage(1987)

reply

Macabre...i gotta catch this one
Im on a life's mission to watch every Italian horror/giallo/police thriller i can get my hands on from the late 60s-80s
The Italians know what theyre doing with these genre films

I found Blood Rage on Amazon Prime maybe a month ago
Fun crazy slasher stuff
Cant get enough of these myself and dang, im running out of new ones

Check out The Prowler if you dig the obscure stalk and slash flicks!
Its really good

reply

Didn't like the Prowler but Happy Birthday to me (1981) is another good one.

You gotta watch Macabre it's a bizarre one but fun.

reply

I saw Happy...a while ago
I recall liking it a lot!
Thx missnat

reply

The Killing 1956
Odds Against Tomorrow 1959

similar movies in that they portray well planned robberies which go off the rails.

reply

I confess to being a big dummy in regards to most pre 70s stuff
Ive seen neither of those and i think i need to expand my horizons!
Thx...im working on my limitations...may take some time tho!

reply

You should really watch more pre-70s movies, so many treasures!

reply

Im late to the party on this
Thanks for rubbing it in lady

reply

Disney's Tarzan. I can't believe how this one is neglected by Disney and their fans. I also like Pocahontas much better than what the general opinion seems to be.

reply

I saw both with the fam...i paid no attention at all
I have a hard time paying attention to cartoons
Except Toy Story
Toy Story is my jam!
I wish i was Buzz but i think im more of a Woody
Oh well...

reply

Toy Story is cool, but I like Finding Nemo better.

I expected you to be more like Mr. Potato Head.

reply

Nemo was also wonderful...You remind me of Dory but im thinking youre probably a little cuter

That was just mean Miss meany pants...im way more exciting than some dumb root vegatable

reply

I am kind of absent-minded. And I also speak whale!

I was just kidding, I bet you look exactly like Animal Lovin Ken!😘

reply

I know... Thats one reason youre so cute
And you speak whale!?!
Your stock continues to climb sweetums!

Im way better looking than Animal Lovin Ken but i will admit hes a snappier dresser
