Turkey (white meat of course!), mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, etc. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
And egg nog for desert.

Why everyone is so "in love"with egg nog?...anyway,when i'm reffering on bacon i mean the one that you make in your own backyard, not that thing that is sold on supermarket.

I didn't used to be, and then about 10 years ago I just fell in love with it. It's cold, smooth, creamy, and decadent,
and a large glass has enough calories to sustain human life for three days! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
BTW, I love bacon too, especially with fried eggs.
π
Yep. I would also have the same identical meal stuff like that for Christmas too.
shareCarrot casserole, ham or turkey and home made mustard.
shareI like stuffed turkey. Or scallops as an entrΓ©e. Delicious!
shareFor Thanksgiving, it's turkey (dark meat is my choice) with stuffing, real mashed potatoes with gravy, and there's nothing better than my mom's homemade dinner rolls.
For Christmas, I prefer baked ham with twice-baked potatoes and again, homemade dinner rolls.
We have three turkey dinners per year - Easter Sunday/Thanksgiving and Christmas. I always look forward to these feasts.
shareFavorite meal would be the traditional Thanksgiving one. Love using the leftovers on pizza, paninis, quesadillas, chimichangas, etc. This year we tried frying up stuffing patties (leftover stuffing, one egg, some grated cheese) and topping it with a fried egg. It was really good!
But Christmas treats are special, too. Eggnog, gingerbread, rum balls, fruitcake (the good kind), etc. One favorite tradition is panettone french toast. We dip it in eggnog!
Such a special time of year. π
Yum!

We tend to make a lot of rich finger foods, and skip making a large entree. So, dips and many cheese based appetizers are typical fare. Crab dip, bacon wrapped water chestnuts, oysters Rockefeller...mmmmmm.
shareThat's the sort of thing we do too. Mostly heated appetizers. One of our faves is spinach balls. kind of a pain to make, but sooooo good. Cranberry meatballs, Cheezy cocktail wieners, Crackers and cheese/sausage trays.
We have an open house, so I set out all of the food in crock pots, and line up all of the cold stuff on a long counter. Everyone is free to help themselves.
I have never heard of spinach balls, but I'd be curious to try them. Cranberry meatballs sound interesting. I can absolutely see how that works, that's a great flavor profile. Yeah,we have way more food than we need, and ample Crock-Pots rolling. We never actually have a set meal time, more of a eat a little all day situation. We call it "grazing",lol.
shareSo,I googled spinach balls, and I will be making them this year! I love having something different, and I'll bet my family will love them. It seems spinach, egg, and parmesan are the key ingredients, and a few variations on the seasoning and one recipe had stuffing too.
shareI hope you all enjoy them.
One big tip. Be sure that you squeeze and squeeze every drop of moisture out of that spinach. Once I get most of the moisture out, I take small amount of it and squeeze out more, a little at a time.
The good news is that you can do this a day ahead of mixing the other ingredients. I do use the seasoned stuffing croutons.
You'll enjoy them. They are so good and worth all of that squeezing. LOL!
Happy Holidays!
Thanks!
