Hey, Guys! We've Lost a Couple Posters Because We're Not Serious Enough Over Here

I do. Sadly, I think it's the price of success, as more people become aware of MovieChat as a website. I certainly see the incidence of mental problems among posters increasing. We have more than a few who seem to have no friends or lives, and come here to assuage their loneliness, which of course is sad, but it's also unpleasant. I have a number of people on Ignore not because I find them unpleasant, but because I don't want to lose it suddenly and post something that will hurt him/her, as in, "Dear God, stop moaning and asking stupid questions, develop social skills and get out of the house!" I really don't want to do that. Something that I think we as a community COULD do is not to do anything to encourage undesirable posters to stick around. Some of us here are a little too friendly and indescriminate in their choice of post-mates. Others will take understandable umbrage at an incendiary topic and respond to it rippingly. While I come completely understand that sentiment, it only draws attention to the topic and encourages its creator. We all know: Do Not Feed The Troll, but not all deranged people are trolls. They don't come here TRYING to distupt the place, but it happens anyway, and that makes them undesirable members of this community. There is such a thing as being too tolerant. A society that tolerates every thing and any thing is eventually rent asunder. My impression is that the good posters, e. g., Naps, Sentient Meat and Leia, have gone because they got fed us up with the bullshit.
