<< Oh come on...for a joke...remind me never joke in front of a girl. >>

How about this. When an underage high school girl is working for you (as in the news story), don't ask her to massage your feet on the first day, don't talk about her breasts in front of her, and don't tell her she had an expression on her face that said "f#ck me, f#ck me." And when she asks you as part of her job what she should get you for lunch, don't say "clitoris."

I think if you avoid that, you'll probably be okay.

Omg. I didn't read the article, but if this sums it up. Omg. Doesn't matter how old the girl/woman is if this is the case.

One thing that's sad about this to me is it's just UNPROFESSIONAL. This was a teenage girl thrilled to be involved with working on her first film. Why couldn't Mr. Hoffman have A.) just kept the interaction focused on the filmmaking, or B.) simply ignored her?

Maybe one reason we don't have more women directors, producers and crew members etc. is they just bail after early experiences like this. And who could blame them?

PS: Hoffman's "It's not who I am" comment is lame. Oh, really? Then who was it, exactly? Was the performance in front of the camera on that project not from you, as well?

All good points...this IS really getting nuts now

Wow. That looks good. ALL my quotes should be blue...and BOLD! Maybe in FLASHING LIGHTS!! Thank you.

Yeah...Hoffman could have said, "That is not reflective of who I am today," or something clearer. But really, all of these apologies are a bit messy and rumpled. I mean, what can they say? There's kind of no way to sound good unless one vehemently denies it...and these guys know there's more to come creeping out of the woodwork of their past any moment, so they're trying to create an evasive sort of cushion around the phrasing.

I actually thought Spacey's statement was pretty good in its evasiveness (from a PR point of view) until it went off the rails in the second paragraph with the "Oh by the way, I'm also gay" part.

Another Hollyweird Scumbag unmasked. Wow! They keep turning over rocks, and finding more disgusting vermin crawling around under them.

"You're trying to seduce me, Mrs. Robinson. Aren't you?"

reply

And doesn't it thrill you?

reply

They should do a weekly show on this. Each week new names and updates on old names. Bet it would get good ratings. People would tune in just to see who the latest perverts were.

reply

Of course ! Now he has the perfect justification to run amok on the site with his rabid, ranting, self-righteous diatribes.

reply

MovieMan will be perfect for this!! Each episode could feature an abuse survivor (or maybe relative/roommate of a survivor, in a pinch) and the horrid stories are told. Then on the other side of town a camera crew ambushes the accused star...maybe kind of like on that FINE, artistic show, Cheaters.

reply

Oh, Cheaters, an outstanding example of TV's Golden Age, to be sure.

Sitting on the edge of me chair for the release of this show.

<< Oh, Cheaters, an outstanding example of TV's Golden Age, to be sure. >>

Oh yes...certainly all of our finest prestige stars started on it! WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!

<< Sitting on the edge of me chair for the release of this show. >>

If there aren't enough hardcore firsthand stories to fill the half hour, we can do "dramatic reenactments" of the sordid encounters, etc. Maybe with celeb guest stars who support the cause playing the various parts?
.

reply

Dramatic reenactments of sordid encounters, now you're talking!!1

Naw ! Are you actually suggesting he could replace host Clark Gable ? 😁

<< Are you actually suggesting he could replace host Clark Gable ? 😁 >>

I just read this:

<< Gable hosted the reality show Cheaters from seasons 13 to 15. >>

DEAR GOD!! How many season of that show ARE there???

(Answer: Way too many?)

hahahahaha ! ! !

I don't know and don't care but it does have a brief measure of entertainment value during a Saturday morning with my coffee.

I can't watch the episodes all the way through...I kind of check out what's happening, but then it just gets sad. All the crying and screaming. And the sleazy host egging them on. ("Do you want to confront him? Now, we're here for you...our first concern is for your safety. Take a moment." pause. "Do you want to confront him?")

(Has anyone ever said "NO"? What would they do then??)

reply

I sometimes wonder how the complainants are even able to afford all of that since they appear to be of modest means. A solitary private investigator doesn't come cheap.

reply

Yes it does.

All accusations are true. We should take the accused and boil them in oil until they confess their guilt. Something must be done! Laws must be passed so that we know politicians care! Trump needs to tweet about it constantly and condemn this kind of behavior, oh wait, scratch that one.

reply

No one's boiling anyone in oil, Mary. Quit being such a drama queen.

Hoffman has been accused by a second person now, and he released a second press release that he remembers nothing.

So ... that's the extent of the drama as far as "persecution" goes.

He's fine.

Discussing the news on moviechat is not boiling anyone in oil, changing laws, or forcing anyone to confess.

I don't think disgraced celebs read our posts...

Why are you being so defensive?

Dustin Hoffman is a garbage actor, why would anyone trust him?
