I enjoy Tom Cruise flicks.

I could never stand the guy, even way before he started acting loony publicly.
I do enjoy some of the movies he stars in. He picks some interesting ones, but I always wish someone else was cast in his place.
Ditto. He comes across as a dick in life though
shareFor me while it's possible in theory, generally no.
shareThe extraordinary is in what we do,not who we are.
shareMy answer is sometimes. I guess it depends on why I don't like the actor, and sometimes it's a totally irrational dislike. I don't care for Jack Nicholson, even though many feel he's one of the greatest. I've enjoyed some of his movies, but there are others that, even though they're really good movies, I have no interest in watching. I have no idea why I don't like him - I just don't. Like I said, irrational. On the opposite side, there are actors who I'll watch in almost anything they've done because I like them. Tom Hanks comes to mind, although I haven't watched all his movies.

It's a shame, but I'm not going to dislike the art I already liked. I will admit it's a turn-off for seeing any future art by these artists.

Yes... In general...
There will be cases where things have diffferent meaning... Would Baby Driver have a gay, possesive subtext now that Spacey is "out"?
Not for me. It's more like whenever I see Spacey's face, I think of a disgusting pedo. He just looks like a creepy disgusting pedo to me now.

It depends on the type of person they are.
shareIt depends on the circumstances.
I think Stratego nailed it.
If it's something you already liked it's difficult to stop liking and appreciating it.
I still like Woody Allen and Roman Polanski movies.
If it's somebody you never liked to begin with I generally don't like the work.
From the looks of things we all may be questioning this going forward.
I have trouble enjoying the same works I used to like, before knowing what I do about the person. Now if I saw them, I'd feel differently while watching.
shareIt's so difficult to take something that has brought you such happiness and love
and stop liking it.
It almost feels hypocritical to keep liking it though.
I know it is. But I can't help but view and feel differently about it afterwards, all the same. It just happens. I can remember how I felt before, just can't re-experience it.
shareI wonder do you think it would be same with a favorite book, painting or piece of music?
If you found out something about the artist.
Even if whatever it was happened 100 yrs. ago.

I'm sure it is endless.
Are there levels?
Is being a racist or drug addict or wife beater any better or worse than being a child molester?
Yes, it'd be the same with a favourite book, painting, or music. Although I can't think of any writers or artists at the moment I'd feel that way about.
It's a strange thing about time. I can, for instance, read about or even see photos of a murder that happened 100 years ago -- as long as it's not *too* grisly -- and not be so affected. Add to it, in the case of a work of art that's 100 years old, it'd be from a cultural time I'm not as familiar with and impacted by as something say within my lifetime.

It looks to me that he simply pays everyone to get him off the hook.
I saw Rosemary's Baby before I knew about the stuff he did (and it was a good film, though the ending was a little silly). Now, if I even see a thumbnail of him, I feel physically ill. I partly refuse to watch his films, because I refuse to give him money. The other part is that he stars in many of his films and he makes me sick.
