Thanks for the heads up, i haven't read the book but the synopsis that was in the article you posted sounds absolutely horrific! Imagine! Yes I hope it isn't cheesy. I think horror is so hard for them to make and have it not come off as cheesy. I did like Occulus though as they said was from the same director, Mike Flanagan.
Suddenly in the mood for a horror movie..haha. :)

Do you watch American Horror Story because this story line is reminding me of something..don't want to mention it if you don't

I thought so but wanted to double check! :) Reading about that movie made me think of AHS:Hotel when
Sally had sewn herself and her friends together and was stuck for days in the bed with them.
. I know its not the same thing, but made me think of it. I mentioned that bit about the show a couple times too because it was so disturbing.

I'm not sure I do remember the first one or not..
Is that when
the man in the black leather suit came up through the bed?
There are others I'm thinking of too. please remind me ;) and yes Sally kind of annoyed me too, great season though.

I can't really remember that all that well... my memory is failing me. haha
I'm re watching asylum for that simple reason.
I've read several of his books, The Dark Half being the latest. He continues to be prolific.
Yeah, thanks for pointing this out.

It was when I read The Dark Half that I became aware of how many of his books out there I was oblivious to. Roughly at about the same time, he came to my part of the country to promote his newest movie, A Good Marriage , which he admitted to having being inspired by the serial killer BTK.

I really liked The Dead Zone and have seen that movie many times. Something about it just gets to me.
shareI confess; I've read every word the guy's written. Granted, he'll never be considered great literature in the Dickens or Steinbeck vein, but the guy tells one hell of a story and has an uncanny ability to suck a reader in in just a few pages. And, even though he describes his own writing as "a Bic Mac and fries for the mind," many of his books have at least one deep, damn near brilliant line.
It'd be tough to pick a favorite....some of mine (books, now) are Dead Zone, Pet Semetary, Green Mile, Christine, On Writing, Misery, a few more not immediately occurring, plus several short-story/novel collections.
Movies, I'd say Green Mile, Shawshank, Christine, Stand By Me, Misery, Dead Zone, for starters.
One such line that immediately comes to mind is from The Dark Half, and I might be paraphrasing it slightly : " The building was so quiet, a barefooted man could have made echoes. "
shareA couple that stuck with me are:
"Friends come in and out of your life like busboys in a restaurant. Did you ever notice that?"
"If you don't have the time to read, you don't have the time to write."
"Alone. is the most awful word in the English tongue. Murder doesn't hold a candle to it and hell is only a poor synonym.”
“Time takes it all whether you want it to or not."
“Monsters are real. Ghosts are too. They live inside of us, and sometimes, they win.”
Yeah, those sound very typical. A favorite quote of his during an interview once:
Q: Why do you write about such gross stuff?
A: I have the heart of a little boy and I keep it in a jar on my desk.

You should try those 2 again, Dazed. Yeah, they do get a little dry here and there, but it all comes back together.
shareOne of the few of his I haven't read.
shareThis was a really terrifying book, if you put yourself in her position.
I always thought this and The Long Walk would make excellent films. Someone really ought to make The Long Walk.
I have been wishing for The Long Walk for so long. It's a favorite!

Frank Darabont holds the rights to make it into a movie, which I am sure he would make an amazing job of IF ONLY HE WOULD JUST DO IT!
shareThanks! I have the book. I read it when it first came out. There has certainly been much talk about making this a film adaptation over the years. I hope it will be good. So much of the story is her thoughts. I look forward to seeing this one!

You are right about the Delores Claiborne cross over. It had to do with the eclipse. I believe they both saw each other in sudden visions during the eclipse ..... Jessie, as a little girl. Her father had molested her. It makes sense, considering what happened with Delores's daughter.
Both books came out around the same time. I haven't read either of the books in a long time, but I have watched Delores Claiborne again recently. It wasn't mentioned in the film. It was a small thing.
I never saw Bag Of Bones. I did read the book. It was one of the very few King novels that I didn't care for.

Hi! Wow! This looks good. It even sort of looks as though that bit from the book about the eclipse is there.
Sorry that I haven't been around much in the past day or so. Things came up at work and I have been busy. I am also out of here on the weekends. We had company last night and today. What can I say? Life goes on.
I really can't wait to see this. It looks great.
Don't forget! Next month Netflix brings us another great story from Stephen King from his book of collections.... Full Dark, No Stars. The story is 1922. I really look forward to that!
[deleted]
Full Dark , No Stars is the name of the book. It is a collection of four stories.
A Good Marriage, A movie adaptation. You should see it! Better yet, read the story!
Big Driver, another great movie adaptation, even BETTER than the written story, IMO.
1922, on Netflix next month!
A Good Marriage was on Netflix a few months ago. Type it in. It may still be there.

Check it out! It's pretty good!
shareWow. Nobody has mentioned Gerald's Game in a long time. Is Hollywood combing through Stephen King novels looking for potential movie adaptations or what? It's like 1987 all over again.
shareI did enjoy the book, though didn't consider it one of his best. But I always thought it wouldn't have made a good film, since most of it was psychological.

This will be interesting. I liked that book but so much if it happens in the character's own head that it didn't seem like a good movie material.
There are things that you aren't sure if they are real or in her head though, even she starts to doubt if they are real, and you eventually find out at the end. So if all her thoughts and memories and hallucinations are shown, it could be an interesting movie.
