I've been on a huge car chase kick ever since my rewatch of the Vanishing Point last month. I've also gone through the French Connection, Bullitt, Blues Brothers and the Cannonball Run (all for the n-th time). Some of the Fast and Furious stuff too.
I want more! But... I'm kind of tired of crime focused movies. Can you recommend me something on the sports side of things, like Le Mans with Steve McQueen?
I know you said cars, but I really enjoyed the documentary series done by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman: "Long Way Round" and "Long Way Down" about their travels on motorcycles.
The first is their trip from London to New York City via Europe, Ukraine, Russia, Siberia, Canada and the US. It starts with the planning stages and shows just how complicated a trip like that is before they even hit the road.
The second chronicles their trip from the northern tip of Scotland through Europe to Africa all the way to the tip of South Africa.
Charley Boorman also did a series called "Race to Dakar" about his experience competing in the Dakar Rally, which has both motorcycles and cars.
