This is easy for me and some people think I am crazy but I have never watched one second of any Star Wars movie ( and never will). It is over hyped and overrated. One big sci-fi soap opera and I wish it was put out of its misery.
Yeah I don't know where that comes from. There's nothing but love there. The only abuse in those movies comes from the villains. The movies themselves are actually sweet. A lot of people don't like them because they think because it's vampires and werewolves that they're supposed to be horror movies. But they're not. They are romance movies.
I'm also done with super hero movies, remake, reboots or what ever you call them.
I did like Ant Man, but that movie was a little different. If they do another one I don't think I will watch it.
I used to like the X-Men but then they just kept going.
Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Iron Man etc...... Seems like it's just and easy way to make a buck.
Lack of originality in my opinion.
I heard the same thing about Twilight, re: the abusive relationship. I gathered it was between the two main characters, but wouldn't know because I've never seen any of them either, and won't.
Like Godewy, I haven't seen Hunger Games either. There are probably more, but since I have no interest in them, they haven't much stuck on my radar.
I think the Divergent series would technically fit this for me. I only saw the first movie and lost any interest in finishing the rest. Seems more like a bland carbon copy of THG to me in some way. I'll throw The Maze Runner in there too. Didn't really have any interest in getting into that YA series either.
Fast and the Furious. Cars don't interest me. Though you aren't really qualified to state whether or not Star Wars is over-hyped or overrated if you've never seen it, you can have no interest in it but you can't make judgments about a movie franchise you've never seen.

I agree, too! I've never seen Star Wars so who am I to judge? If it's your thing - great!
A genre either appeals to you or it doesn't. No harm, no foul. Plenty of people hate musicals, but I grew up on The Sound of Music, Music Man, Mary Poppins, etc. My mom owned all the soundtracks and played them a lot, so I came to like them.
I can understand that some franchises start out very good, but then good old Hollywood ruins them with sequels that don't come close to the original. Greed, I suppose.
I'm with you. I go through phases where I won't watch a musical for awhile then I'll watch a bunch.
I just watched On the Town which is one of my favorites. So I think I may have the bug again.
This is easy for me and some people think I am crazy but I have never watched one second of any Star Wars movie ( and never will).
I second the motion.
And, I'll never understand the cult mentality surrounding "Princess Leia" and Carrie Fisher. It's like we're all supposed to jump on the band wagon and extol the virtues of the franchise. It's just annoying.
I'll also throw in the TV series, "Star Trek." Never watched a single episode.
I guess the nerds on "The Big Bang Theory" would hate me.
Well I missed half of the Star Wars franchise. I saw the first movie and enjoyed it, the second one was okay, but the third was awful. I hated those stupid Ewoks!
I have never seen any of the recent Star Wars movies. Are they supposed to be a prequel or something?
I loved Star Trek and the films with the classic Trek cast. But never went to see any of the films with the Next Gen cast. I did see a few minutes of those films on TV. But I have no interest in seeing the films in their entirety.
Never bothered with any of the new Star Trek films either. I am a fan of the TV series (especially Deep Space 9), but you can only milk a cash cow for so long before it goes dry.

Neither had I, until after your post. I'd seen maybe 10 minutes of one random episode, and that's it.
Decided to watch at least the first episode, since it's on Netflix. I did my best to not judge it based on things like the cheap sets, props, and costumes, or prehistoric "special effects," given it was made on a very low budget, and was made back in the 60s. Although I couldn't help noticing crinkled and spray-painted paper was supposed to pass for rocks.
I focussed on the plot, dialogue, and acting as much as possible. Aside from a slow start in the pilot, eventually the plot entertained me enough to finish it, and watch two more. The storylines were fairly engaging, but much of the dialogue and all of the acting was terrible. Hammy, overdone. Likewise the music.
I notice in the second episode, a guy who was supposed to be dead flinched when another character touched him on the face, LOL! I wondered how that got past and why they didn't reshoot the scene. Too tight a budget? I hope that was the reason.
Anyway, it was a bit better than I'd thought, but why it had and still has such a huge cult following will remain a mystery. The nerds on The Big Bang Theory would hate me too.
That's why I enjoyed The Next Generation more; better production value, props, special effects, acting, music and story... plus it has the best characters like Jean Luc Picard, Data, Riker, La Forge, Worf and Whoopi Goldberg.
The Big Bang Theory on the other hand, I never understand why it's as popular as it is.
I don't care all that much about production values, props, and special effects, but very much care about acting, story, and music to a point.
Amazingly, I've heard of those characters, except Riker, La Forge, and Worf. I could give the pilot of The Next Generation a shot, but doubt I'm ever going to be a fan.
I've seen a couple episodes of The Big Bang Theory, and thought it was mildly entertaining, and that's it. No desire to see more.
I've now watched a couple episodes. You were right, it's much better.
I still didn't know who Riker and Worf were, but somehow had seen the blind guy with the weird little girl hairband (lol, great description) spectacles.
Perception is everything and it is hard to get others to see your way of thinking but I will give it a shot. I would recommend watching the episodes "The Corbomite Maneuver," "Balance of Terror," and "Errand of Mercy" from the first season. Good stories to wrap your head around. The music is on par for a 1960's show but the scores make more sense in those episodes whereas other episodes the music was fitted to a scene. The acting is on par for the 1960's as well. I don't have a problem with it as I grew up with it but for somebody born later and peeking in it is quite different from what you would see in the 1990's.
I'll figure out which seasons and episode numbers they are, and give them a shot. I'm never going to be a great fan, but was entertained enough watching the few episodes I've now seen.
It may not be your type of movie or it may sound bad, but you have no idea if it's overhyped or overrated or one big sci fi soap opera unless you've seen at least some of it.
The strange thing about Star Wars - most people who still watch agree that the franchise should have ended years ago but for some reason they keep watching. Cult like behavior.
