Quentin Tarantino's next movie to cover Manson Family murders

I don't know what more you can do with this subject but there will be blood

I can only see a Tarantino take on Manson as the permanent sensationalizing of a tragedy in a way as hasn't previously existed. I think it's a little disgusting.

reply

it will be funny

what is it with the name "Charles"? they like to kill people, Charles Manson, Charles Starkweather. both brutal killers.

reply

There have already been so many books, films and tv series about Manson, is another one really necessary?

reply

I have always found his films to be interesting.
Much has been done on the Manson case. Look at all of those documentarys!
There have been movies.... countless BOOKS!
Knowing who is tackling this movie, I'm ready for one more.... WHAT THE HELL????

reply

Quentin Taratino loves ultra violence too much. It's in all of his movies.

reply

It's a match made in heaven. (hell?) Tarantino loves that vintage 60's-70's style, ultra violence, crazy quirky cult characters.
I think most movies about the Manson murders usually show LESS than what really happened. Instead of exaggerating it, they tone it down, because the reality was so horrific. They steer clear of showing the 8 month fetus hacked from Sharon Tate's body. I wonder how far Tarantino will go.

reply

I can only see it as a tacky afterthought of Natural Born Killers, a movie he wrote clearly inspired by Manson.

reply

NBK was actually inspired by Charles Starkweather and Caril Ann Fugate, not Manson.

reply

I had to look up what other movies about Manson and the murders (aside from Helter Skelter), or inspired by, already existed.

The only two I've seen are Helter Skelter and Manson Family Vacation. The latter was surprisingly good.

I agree, thankfully those (that I've seen) toned down the horrific violence that occurred. What was shown was bad enough, with the rest left to the imaginations of those who know what happened.

I'll wait until this one's released and the reviews are in to decide if I want to see it or not.

I'm not holding my breath; can't help but feel he's going to be resting on his laurels with that endeavor.

I think Quentin Tarantino is one of the best writers and director, but the worst actor ever.
whatever he comes out with, I will watch it, love his movies, always a great cast too. I'm sure he won't disappoint his followers
