There's A Full Moon π Tonight
. . . so, if you're feeling strange, and/or the people around you are acting strange, and/or you're growing a lot of hair and fangs, that's why.
share. . . so, if you're feeling strange, and/or the people around you are acting strange, and/or you're growing a lot of hair and fangs, that's why.
shareNo matter how many times I've anticipated it and tried to prepare, it still manages to catch me off guard . I especially notice how erratic traffic tends to become.
shareIf you seriously want to keep track of the phases of the moon, buy a book called an Ephemeris. You can find them on Amazon. They are usually sold by the decade, e.g., 2001-2010. I have one for the entire 21st century. You will want the book to be specific to your country, as moonrise will happen at different times around the globe. We astrologers depend on our ephemerides, but they are equally useful to astronomers.
shareWell, it's interesting to discover you're an astrologer. I became seriously interested in that in my 20's and studied it some.
From what I've learned of the night of the full moon, it's actually anticlimactic. It's supposedly the days just prior to and immediately afterward that are the most tumultuous.
I live in the mid-west and my front porch faces a wide expanse of western sky at night. I've viewed some magnificent displays of the moon here.
In astrological theory, issues and projects started under the New Moon are brought to completion under the Full Moon. The 48 hours before the peak of the Full Moon are a build-up, the 48 hours after the peak of the moon are a release. Tonight, the peak happened at 5:42 PM US East Coast time. I find that many people who work with the public, e.g., in law enforcement, hospitals or the hospitality industry, definitely notice a change in public behavior at the times of the moons.
shareYes, those people actively prepare for it, which gives the phenomenon significant credence.
I've also learned that storms are more prevalent during this time. Currently, 3/4 of my state is under an elevated severe weather watch.

Buying a book in this day and age, for information that is readily available for free online? Hell you can even get free apps for moon phases/sets and rises. Oh you astrologers and your scams. When will it end?
shareIt isn't just any full moon, but what is known as the Wesak or Vesakha festival--the "Taurus" full moon usually occurring in May. By legend, it was the night Lord Buddha achieved Enlightenment, though for some it merely commemorates the Buddha's birth. I used to be involved in the New Age thought of Alice A. Bailey, which stressed the importance of the festival and tried to propagate more awareness of it in Western countries. Mount Kailash in the Himalayas is intimately connected to the festival and is supposedly the site Lord Buddha visits from the upper worlds each year at the precise moment of the May full moon. I don't follow Bailey's teachings now, but usually have a heightened sensitivity to the Wesak full moon every year.
share
Now that you mention it, I am developing the most peculiar craving for human blood. I wonder if there's any connection.

LMAO over here, Sandman!
π
Why is it that the moon looked more full last night than the night before, and the night before that?
It was beautiful last night.

I saw you at the mall shopping in the big men's clothing department. You were smiling because you just found a t-shirt you loved. Below

Dammit! *shakes fist* So much for privacy.
shareLook! It's another full moon tonight! HOWWWWWLL!
shareIt's tonight? HOORAY! It looked damned full last night, and beautiful, and I wondered when actual full moon was.
My (temporary) landlord told me she *hates* the full moon. Not sure why. I love it! Anyone else either hate or love it?
Wow, I lost track and I mowed my lawn today. That means it should grow back faster, thicker and fuller π.
shareNo, that would happen if you'd mowed it after the New Moon. New Moons start projects and stimulate growth. Full
Moons bring things to completion. What you did will retard your lawn's regeneration.
I agree that the cycle of the full moon is considered to be a time when nature, in general, climaxes.
That's something I seem to remember from The Farmer's Almanac, which I followed almost religiously when I was younger but maybe my memory is faulty here so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt because it's advantageous to me. Annoying chore except for the sensual aroma it leaves behind; and how neat the yard looks afterward.
A clear sky and a full moon...perfect combination.I'm going at work now,so i watch the road and the moon at the same time.π
"Clear sky over Racoon City and slight breeze coming from the west."
Yes, and it's especially great without city lights washing out the moonlight.
shareIt's one of the advantages in living on a farmπ
shareHoooowwwllll! Nother oneπ tonight.
shareSame here...if you'll need the anti-virus,call meπ
shareThe moon is full tonight, but you can't see it because it's a total lunar eclipse, so lt's like a quadruple-strnght full moons. Full moons bring things to completion. So I made sure to schedule the second interview for the job of my dreams for this afternoon. They offered the job, and I accepted. Now you know why I believe in astrology.
shareπ―οΈ
shareAnd it's the 7th day of the month, the number 7 also representing completion, even good fortune and perfection.
shareYou mean that it's like The Donald??
shareYou've got me perplexed with that mental connection, RK.
shareFull moons bring out the sarcasm in me:
Trump? Perfect? Good fortune?
I still don't get the connection to Trump. I was thinking in the context of numerology and the Bible. And then, in popular culture, #7 has been associated with good fortune ( specifically gambling ), common knowledge to the average layman.
shareWhat is #4 considered?
Numbers 7 and 4 are very much a part of our son's birth.
He was born on 4/7/(I'll skip the year}
He was born at 7:47 AM
His weight was 7 pounds, 4 ounces.
There is something else about that day and his birth with a 7 and a 4 but it escapes me at this moment. We always found it interesting.
4 is death in Chinese numerology. Super unlucky.
Feng Shui believers won't buy a house with a 4 in the address
That's rather scary.
Oh well.... our son has made out fairly well for nearly 40 years now. I guess that 7 balanced out the 4. LOL!
There are hotels in Vegas that completely bypass floors 40-49 for that very reason.
shareWhat about 13,that number also brings luckπ
shareNow that you mention it, I never noticed! Though I could see that being a problem the other way -- too many people requesting to be on the 13th floor.
shareActually the number 13 it has his roots in history...13 october 1307,to be exactπ
shareActually, it goes back to the Late Last Supper, where Judas Iscariot was the 13th diner.
shareNo,R_ Kane, you don't know history!? What hapened at 13october 1307? I let you to answer thisπ
shareFrom Wikipedia
A suggested origin of the superstitionβFriday, 13 October 1307, the date Philip IV of France arrested hundreds of the Knights Templarβmay not have been formulated until the 20th century. It is mentioned in the 1955 Maurice Druon historical novel The Iron King (Le Roi de fer), John J. Robinson's 1989 work Born in Blood: The Lost Secrets of Freemasonry, Dan Brown's 2003 novel The Da Vinci Code and Steve Berry's The Templar Legacy (2006).
Wikipedia,Dazed?π€...I never use that, I was still a young kid, when I start to be interested by history and archeology..."there are secrets outthere that can change the world..."π
shareOf course not!
Your secret is safe with me [winkgrin]
What secret,Dazed?π€
shareI've suspected for some time. But now I know!
But a secret it shall remain.
[deleted]
Well I'll be fair, you've fooled a lot of people with your act!
But I know a troll when I see one.
Have fun by all means, just not at my expense anymore.Bye
[deleted]
I was a total jerk and very rude with you,Dazed...you don't deserve that...I can't believe that i've made such a rookie mistake! I am truly sorry.
shareI had no idea! You learn something new each and every day!
I have heard of 13 not being used but not 40-49! Damn! I got the shivers just typing those numbers! LOL!
and is 8 considered lucky? That's what I was told.
shareYes 8 is very lucky. In Chinatown here, a lot of businesses have 8 in the name. The names of numbers in the Chinese language sound similar to other words, (homophones like there and their), so 4 sounds like 'death' and 8 sounds like ' fortune'. Plus, the shape of a number 8 is similar to the symbol for infinity, so it represents infinite fortune and prosperity.
shareThanks for the reply. Makes sense :)
shareThat's interesting. 8 is my favorite number, but until now I had no idea that it's considered lucky. One learns something every day.
shareMy doctor, who is Hawaiian and a very bright man, recently told me that in the Hawaiian culture, the number 4 is considered a very powerfully positive number. That is, if you do something 4 times, it greatly increases that thing's power, by far more than 4.
I don't particularly believe this, personally, but do believe if anyone believes this, it will have an effect.
It's very interesting how different cultures have positive and negative beliefs about various numbers.
I respect other's beliefs and superstitions. i have my own beliefs as well, so I can respect others. I have never really looked into numerology or Feng Shui. I do find it interesting.
shareSame for me. I know nothing about numerology, and the only thing i know about feng shui is the way buildings/windows/furniture are placed and oriented does have a distinct effect on me. For better or worse.
shareThe 2012 Mayan Calendar predictions craze comes to mind here, where so many were sitting on pins & needles waiting for something cataclysmic to occur.
shareSuch a lovely evening to be outside.π

share congrats on the job!
Is the eclipse visible on the west coast?
Where wolves of movie chat?
shareWe used to look at the moon through our telescope sometimes. The best time to look at the moon through a telescope is when it is a crescent. Otherwise it is so bright that it actually washes the surface details of the moon out and blinds you from its brightness. Though if you wanted, you could view the moon in this way fairly well if you wanted to use a filter to block much of the light out. You could also stop the telescope down (reduce the aperture) with some success. Sometimes we would use the projection method, and remove the eyepiece, and direct the image right on to a large piece of white paper.
I also viewed the sun one time using a Β½ angstrom (Thatβs a real good one) solar prominence filter. You must know what youβre doing here, or it can be quite dangerous, so donβt try this at home kids π²
It's a marvelous night for a Moon Dance / 'Neath the cover of October skies . . .
Full moon in Aries, exact at 2:40 PM Eastern US time on Thursday.
Oh Damn! Hair is starting to grow on the backs of my hand! Nooooooooooooooooooooo! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Dewey, I would have thanked you sooner for your congratulations on my new career, but I can't bring myself to post is a space more narrow than Trump's mind. It's a full moon tonight, so of course I lost my house keys on my way home from work π‘

Yeah, that looks very similar but it still doesn't do justice to the scene I'm thinking of where he humbly mutters, " Thank you......thank you, God, for my life! "
