Scariest horror film?
If you could name just one film as the scariest you have seen, what would it be?

shareHorror only?
shareNot necessarily horror. Just scary.

share1982 or 2015?
share1982
shareWhy would you describe it as the scariest?
shareJaws, The Ghost and the Darkness, the Edge, Frozen ( 2010 version with the trapped skiers ) .
The common denominator with these films is that they accurately depict true-life horror. And if memory serves me correctly, The Ghost and the Darkness IS based on an actual, historic event.

Pick as many as you like if you think they are scary. I was just wondering if there was one that stood out more than others.
Haven't seen Dog Soldiers. Why was it scary? The others I have seen but didn't find them scary.

I haven't ever been scared by a horror film really.
I found Martyrs disturbing for obvious reasons, but not scary. I saw Titanic in 3D and the scene where they are safely sitting in the boats watching the ship sink is really horrifying because that is exactly what it must have been like.
Seen lots of horror films but I have yet to be scared by one so I was looking for some I haven't seen before.
I would go with Descent. The claustrophobic atmosphere in the caves was just perfect.

I've seen it, but it wasn't as memorable as the first one. It tried to repeat the similar atmosphere and scares, but we've already seen it all in the first one, so it wasn't as scary.
shareI liked the Descent. Was good, but didn't scare me.
shareWhich movie scared you? perhaps when you were a kid, kids are scared more easily?
shareWell, none have scared me and I have been watching them since I was little. I would stay up on the Friday night to watch them in my room on my portable b&w tv. Always loved watching them but was never scared of any so far.
shareOh, too bad. I am always scared by ghosts. No matter how stupid or boring the movie is, if they show a ghost, I'll get scared.
shareThe Exorcist! I did not sleep for days after that movie.
shareI thought the Exorcist film was funny. Couldn't help laughing at some of the scenes. The book was better.
shareWell, I was maybe 10 or so. It wasn't even the real movie. It was edited for commercial tv. I don't think I've seen it since so I can't tell you if it was really all that scary. I was raised Catholic so I think I had so many superstitious thoughts about the devil already that the movie terrified me. As an adult, I think the scariest movies for me are the ones where it shows sociopathic behavior because there are people who really do those things.
shareI like the more realistic types and people tend to laugh when I say that Titanic was a great horror film but see it in 3d and tell me that it isn't when you know that is what happened in real life.
Wasn't raised a Catholic so it is probably why I found The Exorcist funny.
One that bugged me a lot that I watched recently was the 1996 Japanese film Don't Look Up. I've watched so many horrors it's hard to scare me anymore, but that one was creepy. The Korean film A Tale of Two Sisters has some moments in it too.
shareI have A tale Of Two Sisters lined up to watch soon. Will check out your other suggestion.
Title reminded me of that Donald Sutherland film Don't Look Now. That was creepy lol.
Oh yeah, Don't Look Now is a good one. There's a Hong Kong remake of Don't Look Up from 09 that I haven't seen, but it might be easier to find than the 96 one.
shareThe Blair Witch Project (1999)
shareThe Changeling (1980) with George C. Scott
shareCan't remember if I saw that one or not.
