It would be impossible but my choice would be Freaks and Geeks. The best chow nobody watched! Cancelled after only 1 season(18 perfect episodes). It launched the careers of many popular actors. Brilliant casting, writing and acting. If only...
Models Inc., a ridiculous prime time soap that lasted only one season.
I can't name any serious shows, because I honestly feel that most, if not all, shows went on long enough or even too long. I don't need to see new episodes.
Ditto on Mystery Science Theater 3000. I used to love that show, but my family hated it, so I rarely got to watch it. I remember the turkey day marathon on Comedy Central where they played it for 24 hours, and I watched as much of it as I could.
On a digital analog channel we get called Comet they were playing it the other day which made me think of this. I think they usually air it on Sundays, so you might want to look into that channel. :)
Yeah, I just checked youtube briefly Holly, and saw some clips, as well as some full episodes. I actually liked it better when it was Joel and the bots, and Frank and Dr Forrester. Didn't care as much for it when Mike took over and Frank and Dr Forrester were replaced with Pearl and the space kids.
There was a show in the 60's called "Nichols", staring James Garner. I think it was just on for one season and from talking about it for decades I think my brother and I are the only people who ever watched it - which may explain the one season thing. Anyway, we loved it.
The hero, played by Garner was a old west sheriff in a town overrun with real bad guys. He was actually a con man who got caught and they sentenced him to be the Sheriff because they had such trouble hiring one because of the bad guys. Anyway, Sheriff Nichols never carried a gun and was real laid back and managed to talk his way through trouble.
The show had, perhaps, the most astonishing end of a series in history. A new bad guy came into town, Nichols confronted him and the bad guy shot him dead, in cold blood. In the first 5 min of the episode! Well, then, Sheriff Nichols tougher twin brother rode into town to take over his brother's job, but that was the last episode. It turned out that because of languishing ratings, the producers decided they needed a more forceful lead character but after they filmed that one episode with the new character the show was cancelled.
Anyway, I don't think they will bring that back, for obvious reasons.
I very dimly remember a show called "Nichols", but couldn't have described with the detail you did. It sounds very much like Garner's "Support Your Local..." movies. I always liked him when he played that kind of character.
