Did you delete your IMDb account?

I didn't see much reason to stay there anymore and have just deleted my account. Not sure if I will ever go back now, as the message boards were a huge part of me using IMDb (even if I read more than I post).

I've kept mine so I can give 1 star ratings to suck them in.

AFFIRMATIVE -- also my amazon prime video account (amazon owns imdb).

hit them where it hurts.

reply

No and I'm not planning on it just yet. It was one of the very first sites I joined and I don't want to see my 15 year membership disappear, just in case they do decide to bring the boards back. I'm just making a point of not going there, whereas before I was on there a couple of times every day.

reply

No I kept mine for the other features like users reviews and list ect. I also think it's cool that they've link these two sites. I'm hoping this works out.

reply

I was just on IMDb to check if my account still works.

Some people reported that their account stopped working when the boards closed, so I didn't know what to expect, but mine still works. Okay... now I have to think what to do with it.

While I was there I checked "Latest news" (Spielberg's mother died, BTW. She was 97), and those idiots at IMDb still have a comment section there. They forgot to remove it. :D

Even better, it read "1 comment". Of course, there was no comment there. That's messed up, huh?

I don't know what's going on with IMDb, but one other Latest News story has "11 comments" written beneath it. But there are no comments whatsoever. They are non-existent.

No--I have too many reviews and have been on there over 16 years. I never posted in the boards simply because I refused to give them my phone # or credit card to be able to post.

But I loved reading the message boards--lots of fantastic discussions minus trolls, which were always a joke anyway that never bothered me--their posts were irrelevant so it didn't matter. SO glad this place is here!! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰πŸ˜

I am, however boycotting Amazon on account of this debacle...

reply

I never gave them a phone or credit card# to post and I posted often.

reply

Maleficent, that's strange because I was a 10 year member and never gave them my phone number or credit card to post. I know that a few years ago, new members had to, but I never did and posted all the time using the imdb sign in. They did have my email address, but even that wasn't my real email address but one I had set up for imdb.

reply

Cornelia, yeah, same here. I was there 10 years as well and never needed to give them that info in order to post, just my name and email to create my account...that was it. Probably was something new they started doing sometime after we joined.
