Yeah. They shut down 5 hours early. An American company using GMT time, the latest timezone on the globe(I believe). Not Eastern, Mountain or Pacific(U.S. timezones). I guess they really just couldn't wait to get it done.
Don't they realize that without the boards, every single piece of info at IMDb is available at at least a dozen other sites. Nothing makes them special or exclusive anymore. It was the extensive boards that set them apart from the rest.
Pretty much everything I need to know is at Wikipedia, with no browser slowing advertising.
Sad. Very sad. So many years.

shareI'm not defending IMDb (I plan to never visit again, and to stop patronizing Amazon), but I'm a stickler for accuracy. So I wanted to point out that if they were going for deleting the boards as soon as it was the 20th ANYWHERE on Earth, they were 14 hours late:

What they ended up doing is making it be when the "middle" time zone reached the 20th. It's actually a little after the middle, but it's what used to be called Greenwich Mean Time and is now called UTC 0. Other time zones are either +(number) or -(number). For instance, Greece is UTC+2; New York is UTC-5.
They should have stated exactly which time zone and time they were gonna end it. Blindsiding us is just wrong.
