not just a bugatti HALF the money we sent them is unaccounted for, did you miss that?

reply

This sounds as if you are swallowing Trump's fake news. In his Wednesday social media post, Trump falsely claimed that Zelensky “admits that half of the money we sent him is ‘MISSING.’” He made a similar claim to reporters on Tuesday.

But Zelensky has made no such admission. Rather, he has taken issue with inflated claims about how much US cash Ukraine has received. He said in a February 1 interview with the Associated Press that although people talk about Ukraine getting as much as $200 billion in US aid, Ukraine had received about $76 billion, largely in the form of weapons.

Contrary to some viral social media posts this month, that wasn’t a confession that half of the cash that the US sent to Ukraine had vanished. In reality, Zelensky was saying exactly what experts in the US and elsewhere have repeatedly pointed out – that a large chunk of the total US budgetary “response” to the Ukraine war is not in the form of money handed to the Ukrainian government. For example, experts at the Center for Strategic and International Studies think tank wrote last May: “The notion of ‘aid to Ukraine’ is a misnomer. Despite images of ‘pallets of cash’ being sent to Ukraine, about 72 percent of this money overall and 86 percent of the military aid will be spent in the United States. The reason for this high percentage is that weapons going to Ukraine are produced in U.S. factories, payments to U.S. service members are mostly spent in the United States, and even some piece of the humanitarian aid is spent in the United States.”

Glad to help.

reply

Yeah, "spent" in the United States. I'd love to see a completely transparent accounting of how much of that money found its way into the pockets of Americans, taking either a directly domestic route or being passed around first in the Ukraine.

reply

General Keith Kellogg, the Trump administration’s special envoy for Ukraine and Russia .. noted that “we have a pretty good accounting of where it is going” and that most appropriated funds are spent in the United States."

If you want to predict flimflam's next post, just add a "not or isn't" to the key words of whatever claim you've made, look at the top three search results, then copy/paste a paragraph from the source that you find with a page search that contains the keyword.

Flimflam seems to expect that all of the other posters here will rise to such depths in his game of Google search source tag. By his standards, you are currently "it," or as he refers to it, "source pls."

reply

look at the top three search results,

If showing how easy it is to disprove many of the more egregiously wrong claims posted on the politics board was your aim, then with this you have succeeded lol

SemiAnus' logic is confused as his metaphors, an excuse to offer mere opinions in discussions here rather than anything more substantive through checking outside our bubble. [Something in a recent exchange he conspicuously was unable or unwilling to do) But just recently, oddly enough, I seem to remember him, in contrast, somewhat negatively commenting on mere opinion, that who ever employs such as an argument "they will still be nothing but your beliefs." He therefore will excuse me if I prefer to make of what I say more than 'nothing'.

Nobody has said that that the aid is missing. The Biden administration was delaying shipments of aid for various reasons. Biden did want to help Ukraine but his administration did fear escalation.

Zelensky did say that the US only provided half of the military aid that was promised so that could be inefficiency or corruption.

The Biden administration slowed delivery of munitions.

Evasion noted and supposed lack of interest, when here you are.

Meanwhile, that easy internet search tells one "As CSIS has reported before, “aid to Ukraine” is a misnomer because 90 percent of military aid is spent in the United States. Of aid overall, 60 percent is spent in the United States, about 25 percent is spent in Ukraine, and the final 15 percent is spent globally."

"...General Keith Kellogg, the Trump administration’s special envoy for Ukraine and Russia, denied these interpretations. He noted that “we have a pretty good accounting of where it is going” and that most appropriated funds are spent in the United States."

I addressed your claim. A refusal to comply with your attempt at bullying me into playing Google search source tag is not equivalent to your evasion.

On the contrary, you responding with such a cheap dismissal rather than addressing my words is more accurately described as evasive.

Edit: If I notice you editing posts like that it will surely change the tone of our interactions.

reply

I provided a second source which again debunks the central claim of 'missing millions'. Hardly evasive. Not much more I can do really is there?

While Ukraine has its issues, the current slandering and undermining of Zelensky is only serving to confuse and alienate the allies of the US while rewarding Putin for his bullying, aggression and lies.

As for addressing your words, you said you 'weren't interested in playing' so I guess we can leave it there, especially with no substantiation of anything eminating from the Russian disinformation bubble.

Edit: If I notice you editing posts like that it will surely change the tone of our interactions.

No idea what you are on about. I only edit before I see a reply. If you are 'not playing' then one would not expect to see one. See how it works?

reply

Bad, flimflam. Bad!

Consider my lack of responding to you further at the moment as a timeout for you to reflect on editing the content of that post.

reply

I added a link and further text before I saw you replied, something hardly to be condemned -especially as you replied so very quickly. Even then the additions did not change the essence of what I was saying, except to reinforce it. Too bad for you, he who 'is not playing'. Or you can of course address the second link, and the words of Kellogg, about a subject he might be expected to know, rather than conspicuously ignoring matters and leaving in a huff lol.

Consider my lack of responding to you further..

I have; and diversion noted, in lieu of answering my points. Bad, SemiAnus, bad!

reply

There is plenty of fact-checking of Trump because he lies all the time. I would believe the journalists of CNN and other established new outlets over the bots circulating disinformation on social media. I've been following the news for over thirty-five years so I know good sources.

reply

That won't do you any good here where the stock response is that if there is something shown which a right winger does not agree with, or finds inconvenient, it is rubbished as 'propaganda', while normally nothing authoritative is offered by way of alternative (except X of course lol)

I suspect many of these posters are Russians trolls so we have to prove them wrong. A few of these people are useless idiots who have been duped. A famous KGB defector gave an interview in the 80's and he talked about different stages of the Soviet Union long game against the US. I think the US is currently in the destabilization phase so we have to be vigilant.

https://bigthink.com/the-present/yuri-bezmenov/

Once demoralization is completed, the second stage of ideological brainwashing is “destabilization”. During this two-to-five-year period, asserted Bezmenov, what matters is the targeting of essential structural elements of a nation: economy, foreign relations, and defense systems. Basically, the subverter (Russia) would look to destabilize every one of those areas in the United States, considerably weakening it.

The third stage would be “crisis.” It would take only up to six weeks to send a country into crisis, explained Bezmenov. The crisis would bring “a violent change of power, structure, and economy” and will be followed by the last stage, “normalization.” That’s when your country is basically taken over, living under a new ideology and reality.

Much of what you say is worth bearing in mind. Russian interference in US affairs has been proven without doubt, while the same can be said for internet black ops and disinformation campaigns. What I find it intriguing is to wonder what they have over Trump. He has been easy on Putin for years, although recently this effect has been remarkable.

Enjoy your Reddit jollies while Ukrainian citizens continue to get the shit blown out of them by a dictatorship than has always been the antithesis of liberty and freedom. Good to know what you stand for when the bombs start flying your way.

reply

Right, when the war could end tomorrow if the West's puppet ruler were to be deposed through elections.

But yes, not seeing drafted Ukrainians dismembered by grenade drones is truly your priority here.

reply

Well we could talk about drafted Ukrainians, or we could discuss the 12,300 non-military citizens (including 650 children) who have been killed since the fiasco began. Whichever fits your narrative more snuggly, I suppose.

And yes, the West has SO MUCH to learn about fair and just electoral process from Putin and Russia. Hopefully for you the USA becomes just like Russia and your support for the dictatorship can be validated. Start stockpiling those food stamps now bubba, good times are coming.

Go back to reddit, zelensky is nothing more than a globalist puppet commandeered by Klaus Schwab.

Sorry, I have never been on reddit in my life. I leave that place to the losers. Enjoy it.

Interesting you talk about puppets though, when you’re supporting a senile grifter who has Musk pulling the strings while Putin controls the other end with his fist inserted elbow deep up the presidential rectum.
