Almost three-quarters of Americans believe in literal angels. They think life comes after death rather than vice-versa. Eternal life. And that we are all bound for some kind of theme park. It's amusing how political conservatives object to entertaining the "delusions" of trans people out of some principled commitment to truth, but as an atheist, I've held hands for ridiculous one-sided prayers with the invisible sky-wizard. The claims of religious people are by their nature -- or perhaps I should say super-nature -- more extraordinary than the claims made by trans people.
