shareThis brings me back to 8th grade... I always ate at the all-black table. One day, I got up to throw away my tray, and this cute girl politely asked me if I could throw hers away. I'm like, no problem. In a matter of a few seconds, 8 other girls rushed to pile their trays on top. I walked to the trash can with trays up to my neck, my homies roasted me mercilessly and wouldn't even let me sit at the table the day after, slid their butts to block me until a cafeteria lady made me pick another table. That's when I learned to never be "sweet" in the hood.
shareThey think like predators: instead of seeing your goodwill as a virtue, as another White person might, they view it as a weakness to exploit.
