Didn't it actually take just a few days ? I mean, the jawboning continues to this day, but the original tallies, which proved highly accurate, didn't take that long.
I personally think that absentee ballots should be postmarked by, say, two weeks before election so that all ballots can be in the polling place by election day. That would be one common-sense measure to address the weaponized cynicism.
It wasn't until our elections become so chronically & damnably close that this even became an issue, cynically weaponized to sow distrust in the entire electoral process.
What do you expect? Democrats cried for 4 years over one, then cheated one with a fake pandemic...of course no one thinks the general election is going to be fair.

The process by which Harris was nominated was the least surprising, most defensible set of circumstances applying to the situation where Biden stood exposed, in the Summer before the election, as having no chance of winning. Compare it, if you will, to the Republicans grappling onto McCain in 2008 when no one else stood even a ghost of a chance.
Parties do what they gotta do. Now, you think folks like me, who support Democrat policies, are going to REFRAIN from voting for the sitting VP against a character like Trump because.... it was slightly un-conventional ? You act like she just jumped out of a cake.
As far as the vote count, the population is increasing, the voting population is increasing, every election sets a new record both for the winner and loser. For you to trot this out as proof positive of corruption is just another half-baked excuse IN ADVANCE just in case your clown loses.
