It would be a disaster for China but I have lost all confidence in America's leadership, both military and civilian, to handle a conflict of that magnitude
shareI wonder why Israel thinks provoking a full-on war with Iran is something that will benefit their interest. This is clearly a long-term objective, but I fail to see its utility/appeal from what I can imagine is in Israel's interest.
They also, of course, want to make sure they can stick the US in the passenger seat, and have them pay for all the gas.

shareFrom one viewpoint, they clearly apprehend that Iran's proxies are doing Iran's dirty work. But those proxies' leverage/appeal come from Israel's domestic oppression/dispossession of their native population, which EQUALS the Jewish population. Israel is running roughshod over half the people it controls.
Taking all that in, Israel can and does adopt the view that Iran/proxies have some nefarious motive to oppose them, but what they would never admit is their own policies & crimes are the basic motivator/instigator/legitimization of all the blow back they receive. Its the cost of doing business, as they choose to do it (encroach/dispossess/ethnic cleanse the occupied territories).

shareYes. The fairly obvious reasons for Israel killing the latest two are :
It lets the air out of the tire on a Western demand for a ceasefire in Gaza, which Israel has set its course upon for the duration (full-on ethnic cleansing / genocide) - i.e. keeping the region on a full boil.
It hits back on the (Iranian backed) proxies raining missiles upon them. Hizbollah (in direct response to the Israeli genocide in Gaza) is raining missiles on northern Israel, making it ALSO unliveable - 60-100k Israelis have been relocated southward.
The ultimate cause of this slaughter & mayhem is Israel's campaign of injustice to the Palestinians over generations.
If Israel had simply treated its natives fairly, over the last 50 years at least, once its military superiority had been well established, Israel would have long since enjoyed a comprehensive peace. They chose expansion/dispossession/oppression, and got along with it, a host of enemies.
Clearly, if they were trying to calm things down, they wouldn't have undertaken these highly provocative assassinations. The proof is in the pudding.
What is particularly infuriating about it is the reality that they drag US into it - their war criminal PM comes over to get his butt licked by MAGAtty legislators, while they actually -depend- upon US military armaments to enact 'their' genocidal war-making policies.
