11 things that are getting cheaper

Markets loved the October inflation report, with the S&P 500 surging on news of price changes that were a little softer than economists forecasted. There’s good news in the report for everyday consumers, too. Annualized inflation dropped from 3.7% in September to 3.2% in October. And a growing list of things are actually getting cheaper, with year-over-year price declines, or deflation.

Since inflation surged in 2021, Yahoo Finance has tracked monthly price changes in 28 categories that account for most things people spend their money on. In October, 11 of those categories got cheaper compared with a year earlier. That’s the largest number of categories deflating since we started tracking prices two years ago.

Thank you, President Biden!

reply

I noticed my groceries are cheaper. Some companies had lowered their prices.

Thanks, President Biden!

reply

I haven't noticed a drop in grocery food prices yet. I have seen gas dropping.

reply

I have.

reply

Where?

reply

Comparison shopping. I look for deals.

reply

I was referring to a physical location.

reply

It's too bad you Trump supporting fuck heads didn't get the recession you hoped for just to make Biden look bad. Sorry for your disappointment. Prices are coming down and the economy is recovering. Why are you against that?

reply

What do you usually buy that you've noticed dropping? Things like cereal are still high. A pound of regular flour pasta used to be less than a dollar now it's over. Canned goods (black beans, beats, peas) that were a dollar are like $1.10 now. Organic juice or at least juice without high fructose corn syrup was $2.50 now it's like $3.29. I would avoid buying juice but I sometimes need it for medical reasons so must have it on hand.

reply

What about your insulin price?

reply

Best its ever been 👍 and I thank Biden for that.

reply

My insulin is covered completely by my insurance now. I used to have to pay full price until I met my deductible under Trump. And then I had to pay a co-pay. Now everything is zero.

Signed, million man.

reply

I have noticed the price of grain has not decreased, but that's largely due to the drought in the Midwest.

reply

I go to different stores to comparison shop and I buy in bulk if I notice a huge sale. And there are some stores which normally sell at a huge discount. I also buy online for good deals.

There's a major chain where I live that sells organic juice, veggies and fruit at a major discount.

Your juice is which size? I buy 46 oz. juice without added sugar online for $3.16 only because I can't find this specific item in any store near me. I usually buy it as a 6-pack.

My small canned veggies went up to $1.40 and then I noticed a new kid on the block selling the same item for .99 cents next to it.

I find twofer deals on my cereal, but a supermarket sells a knock-off cereal for less than half the price.

Stores like Trader Joe's and Walmarts. I also found a deli that makes HUGE heroes at half the price of competitors.

BTW, I hate shopping, but if I'm in a store buying something, I keep my eyes open for deals.

reply

Thanks for your reply. The organic juice is 64 fl oz for $3.29 which to be honest I saw coming for a while, $2.50 was lower than most places. I dislike shopping too and go for deals. I hadn't bought cereal regularly for years but recently been wanting it. Not a fan of most knockoff cereals but I'm sure some you can't tell the difference. Store brand Cheerios for example I think is noticably awful.

reply

That juice still sounds like a great deal.

Realistically, inflation has been happening forever. Candy I bought as a kid costs 10 cents and now it's over a dollar and is smaller. A large bag of potato chips was $1 and now is $3-4 for a smaller size.

reply

Pretty sure the President doesn't have a whole lot of control of how prices pan out, especially food. Even though Biden's policies undoubtedly had some impact both ways, to think he is the sole or biggest contributor to prices rising back then or getting cheaper is ridiculous, to say the least.

reply

His policies (child tax credits, stimulus checks, Covid money for businesses to retain workers, unemployment checks, etc.) drastically lowered the poverty rate and put a lot of cash in American pockets. Republicans ended them so poverty is back up again.

"We cut child poverty to historic lows, then let it rebound faster than ever before
The expanded child tax credit was a well-tested solution to child poverty. Bring it back."

reply

I don't get it. Why do you even support Democrats to begin with? It was the Republican party under Lincoln that got rid of slavery.

reply

Because Keeliar believes in the big lie of the party switch.

reply

A 3% drop is still over 13% lmao. This is happening IN SPITE of Biden, not because of him.

No policies have been reversed.

You fuckers are seriously delusional.

reply

The biggest, worstest policy has been reversed: Jerome Powell's money-printing.

SPYders price has gotten over 10% more expensive in the last three weeks. Fucking Biden.

reply

OP: "Out of millions of things society needs to survive... these 11 things are now cheaper, therefore, Joe Biden is the greatest President ever."

Absolutely batshit insane posting. This entire thread is just Worms in Brain level of crazy.

Also, the money printing should have never happened. The curve was only supposed to last 15 days not 3 fucking years.

reply

Your boy squealing for it in 2019.

reply

That's not true. The Feds have been raising interest rates and stopped money printing in order to lower inflation. Biden also released U.S. oil reserves to lower gas prices. You don't pay attention.

reply

"Biden also released U.S. oil reserves to lower gas prices."

And this is a good policy WHY?

Are you going to next tell me that Biden should go "Drill, baby, DRILL?"

reply

Cheaper gas for consumers. Lowers inflation.

I believe we should tell Big Oil to go F themselves and instead rely on cheaper green energy.

reply

We need to raise the excise tax at the pump to like $3.00/gallon and a similar tax for vehicle weight and we need to drive smaller cars like the Europeans do. I don't think the Federal excise tax on gas has been raised since Clinton did it in 1993.

reply

You and everyone else knows it was better under Trump. "President" Biden? What a joke.

reply

My labor value, paycheck, checking accounts, savings accounts, money market accounts, and investment portfolio were ALL better under Trump.

reply

That's too bad Trump fucked all of you morons by mishandling the COVID-19 pandemic and destroyed the economy. Thanks to Biden the economy is recovering.

reply

Hahahahahahaha! Sure, buddy.

reply

How does democrat governors shutting down everything, killing the local businesses, putting everyone out of work, and ultimately creating the real pandemic of money printing...

...have anything to do with Trump?? He was constantly attacked for wanting to open back up as early as April 2020.

You're a lying POS and no one believes a word you say.

reply

Trump is responsible for millions of American's deaths and the economy tanking because of his inaction during the COVID-19 pandemic. How is that a lie?

reply

Because it's not reality. Your solipsism knows no bounds.

reply

Your savings made no interest under Trump.

reply

Oh, it did...lots actually.

reply

The good economy under Trump was handed to him from Obama. Then Trump destroyed the economy because of his mismanagement of the COVID-19 pandemic and his irresponsible policies. You're just too stupid to see it, Goober.

reply

b1cksurn is just a liar. he said hes paying 7$ for doritos. i sent him a link to walmart, 4.99 for those massive family pack sized doritos. no response yet

reply

I don't shop at Walmart lmao. That's being part of the problem, Homie.

reply

If Walmarts prices are still the same and super low as before, but your place isnt? what does that mean? turn your brain and decipher that mystery?

reply

you figure out why everywhere else's prices went back to normal and yours didnt yet? or did you realize the truth would run counter to the narrative you attempted to paint

reply

LMAO

"A good economy is always because of a democrat, and a bad one is always because of a republican"

Get the fuck out of here with that bullshit. The shitty O'Bama Economy meme was a thing for years, Bro.

"In this economy!" was a tagline everywhere. How little we forget...

reply

cause obama did bad and bush so well? the gdp numbers dont lie. how about clinton vs bush sr?

yes "in this economy". no one forgets W bush completely crashing the economy and Obama picking up the pieces.

reply

Oh I can't wait to hear this - what interest rates were you getting in 2020?

reply

Better than now.

reply

Yes, furniture and electronics are down in price. That is because demand for these products are down because not as many people can afford these things anymore. Great job democrats!

reply

It's too bad you're doing so poorly. I'm thriving, my family is thriving and my friends are thriving. So is my community. If you turn off Fox News and left your trailer park once in awhile you would see this. It's taking a bit for Biden to fix Trump's messes but he's working on it. Things are not as bad as what your being told in the right wing media.

reply

It sounds like you actually believe your fairy tales. Sad.

reply

If you're doing so poorly then get a better job. Go back to school if you have to. Quit blaming Biden and the Democrats for all your problems. If you are not happy then change your life.

reply

Lol.

reply

Yesterday you said this:
"Gas prices fall and then rise. The president has little to with that"

You're praising him over something you know he cannot control.

reply

What about food? Chips and cereal haven't gotten any cheaper since they rised up. He could be using his time on how to fix supply and demand of wheat and whatnot, yet he's said nothing about that.

reply

Thank you President Putin! you the best! 😍
