MovieChat Forums > Politics > Yes that is a EV mower on fire at a trad...

Electric motor batteries are starting to scare the shit out of me, and I don't want them anywhere near my house lol.

reply

The lower costing homes here are being built with just one car garages. The people don't even park there car in them any more.I think the mower are being kept in a portable metal building in the backyard.

reply

Do you have any battery powered power tools? They are great!

reply

Not even Rumpelstiltskin himself could spin that straw into gold...lmao.

Power tool batteries will never have the catastrophically bad history that EV and Cell batteries have had as of late...but horrible try!

reply

Do you have a cell phone?

I'm glad gas mowers never catch fire.

Thank you for going back 10 years to get me some information.

reply

EV fires burn 1000+ degrees hotter than combustion engine fires.

reply

Yes, lawn mower fires are not a new thing.

reply

Right, we already knew that, so why bother providing the four links? Were you trying to prove something to yourself or others?

reply

Some people seem to think that only electric motors catch fire

reply

So you are a mind reader making assumptions for others instead of using common sense.

reply

if you dont understand his point, you might be retarded..... the point is both catch on fire. arguing catching on fire is some particularly novel thing to EV ones is disingenuous and untrue.

try and keep up half wit.

I have a gas mower, but a battery powered tree trimmer and weed wacker. I see no problem with some healthy competition in the market.

That picture is from last year and it was just a prototype.

I recently got an electric mower and I love it. We have a small yard in the city and a small flower farm nearby. I need to mow the area between the flower rows and it's a pretty big area and I need something heavy duty. I had been carting my gas mower back and forth and it's a pain in the butt. I got a new electric one (actually used) for home and leave the gas one at the farm. I like the electric one because its clean, I don't have to worry fouling the plug or changing oil and it's a LOT quieter. I have to wear ear protection with the gas one but the electric one is so much quieter I dont need protection and can even listen to ear buds without ear protection over them. And it's cleaner, so what's the problem, right? The battery seems to last a lot longer than I thought and the electric is self-propelled so I'm thinking it might be better at the farm. I'll have to see if it can run for an hour with a lot of self-propelling and if it can handle tall grass as well as the gas one.

I'd buy an electric lawnmower without a doubt if I had a smaller yard, but I have to mow about 2 acres and need something heavy duty. The weed wacker is pretty much just for my garden and the pole trimmer is an upgrade from the manual type with the levers. I'm actually quite impressed with the electric trimmer, due to its ability to cut through thick tree limbs with ease.

So whats the message ?

The problem of fossil fuel pollution and depletion has gone away because I've found a disadventage/issue in electric vehicles?
