Example of where Capitalism inevitably results in a bad outcome.

Take the humble plastic disposable razor for example. It's estimated that around two billion of these ( razors and cartridges ) get thrown out world wide each year. But razor companies have been around for a long time and they know how to produce a perfectly good razor from metal that uses a single replaceable steel blade that would be the only thing that gets replaced. And steel blades are "biodegradeable".

But they won't do that because they make a lot more money from selling plastic disposable razors with multiple blades. So they are knowingly doing the wrong thing by their customers and the environment. But they are in the business of making as much money as they can ( well duh ! ) so their customers and the environment can go fuck themselves.

I was just watching a video about how, if you look at Roman pottery from centuries ago, they're still in almost exactly the same pristine condition today that they were in when they were made, and they're artistically beautiful as well as solidly fashioned. Nowadays, you hold a cup or plate wrong and it develops cracks. And that goes for a lot of production line assembled items, they're cheap, ugly and made to last a minute and be replaced soon after - like you said with the razors situation. It's furniture, it's cars, it's appliances. Nothing is made to last or to impress, it's made to repulse and die and then be re-purchased by a shinier version of the same thing.
