Fox News host ponders aloud why USA has to "bring in foreigners"?

Finally, they are just taking the white hoods off at Fox.

TEXT:

During Thursday’s episode of Fox News Channel’s “The Five,” panelist Jesse Watters urged Americans to “have more babies” instead of bringing in “foreigners to have the babies we won’t have.”

His xenophobic comment, shared in a video posted by Mediaite, came in response to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer’s call to grant a path to citizenship for the estimated 11 million documented immigrants in the country partly to help increase the dwindling birth rate. “Now more than ever, we’re short of workers, we have a population that is not reproducing on its own with the same level that it used to. The only way we’re going to have a future in America is if we welcome and embrace immigrants,” the New York Democrat told media Wednesday night.

“If Americans aren’t having babies, why can’t we just have more babies?” Watters said on Thursday. “Why do we have to bring in foreigners to have the babies we won’t have? Maybe we just get off our iPhones and dim the lights?”

Co-panelist Jeanine Pirro started the discussion by asking about the timing of Schumer’s remarks: “[The Democrats] had both chambers under Barack Obama. They had both chambers under Joe Biden. Why didn’t they do immigration reform then? The minute Republicans take the House – then they want to do amnesty? What does that tell you? It tells you they don’t want to solve the problem. They want to campaign on the problem and they want to paint Republicans as anti-Hispanic.”

Watters’ anti-foreigner rhetoric is in keeping with comments by fellow Fox News personality Tucker Carlson, who complained in 2019 that African immigrants crossing into Texas would bring high birthrates and would soon “overwhelm our country and change it completely and forever.”

It’s all part and parcel of the Great Replacement conspiracy theory that’s been touted by far-right extremists and white supremacists, which stokes fears that white people are being replaced, both demographically and culturally, by non-white people who have higher birth rates. The racist and antisemitic theory was cited by shooter Payton Gendron as his motivation for killing 10 people at a grocery store in a predominantly Black neighborhood in Buffalo, New York on May 14.

In April, The New York Times reported that, in more than 400 episodes of his Fox News show “Tucker Carlson Today,” the Fox News anchor had “amplified the idea that Democratic politicians and others want to force demographic change through immigration.”

“Mr. Carlson is the highest transmitter of the very ‘replacement theory’ bigotry he feigns not knowing,” Brian Levin, director of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California State University, San Bernardino, told Politifact earlier this year.

That is offensive, but saying its alright for people who snuck into the country illegally should be granted citizenship while others have to wait in non border countries is just fine? Child please!

Neither party really wants a true immigration debate. They want to kick the can down the road and continue to use it as a wedge issue every few years. That is for damn sure!!!!

reply

Vote farms, just like abortion!

reply

US wouldn't need to if they incentivized families and having babies like other countries do. Americans are incentivized to stay childless and/or abort their "parasites".

But we can't have nice things...like voter ID. Which also most other countries in the world have, and it works very well.

reply

We kind of already "incentivized" it already. If you have children you can get up to 7,500 a year(this is the 2023 number). Not only that the tax system heavy favors those who are married as well. Could more be done, yes, I'm sure, but don't like families don't already see huge advantages over singles filers like myself.

reply

Childcare and expenses are more expensive than $7500 a year.

reply

Okay.....and this is free money being handed out simply for having a child. The job of the government is not to raise your children. Help is offered and then some. What more do you want? As I already pointed out, the system heavily favors those who have children and even more so if you are married with children.

reply

You stated that the government incentivizes couples to have children. I strongly disagree and stick with my previous comment:

"Childcare and expenses are more expensive than $7500 a year."

Middle-income couples don't have many children because it's not affordable and costs are coming out of their pocket. Poor people can have more children because they get food stamps, Medicaid, free rent for an apartment and free childcare.

reply

But they do incentivize it. Could they do more, which I also said, yes, but they do a lot that is for sure.

Middle income couples also bring in far more money than those lower income people and can fill that gap.

Now, if you're a single mom or father then you really get screwed. Sure, you still get the kickback for claiming the children, but you don't get a lower tax rate like you would if you are married.

Our tax system is a gigantic wasteland. Neither party has the guts to clean it up. Well, Rick Perry had the idea to ages ago now, but he never really had a chance to win against Obama.

reply

"But they do incentivize it."

No, because the birthrate remains low.

The incentives goal could be for couples to spend more money by "feeling" richer and gaining a positive opinion toward the party which gave them the tax refund. Also, more consumer spending helps the economy.

reply

I dont think you understand the word "Incentivize".
It does not mean "Cover the cost of completely and also compensate you for the inconvenience"
It means "To make something more attractive than it was before "

10% of a pizza at Dominoes is an "incentive"

reply

Birthrate remains low, therefore incentivizing couples to have more babies isn't working.

Dominoes sales increase because of 10% discount would prove the incentive worked.

reply

Sometimes you drop a gravity bomb of reasonable middle-of-the-road sensible commentary and I think to myself, maybe I do have common ground with Keelai

Foreign--born Rupert Murdoch's employees are asking why so many foreigners allowed?

Why don't they ask their boss?

reply

The reason we have immigration is to devalue labor.

reply

You’re only for illegal immigration because you think it’ll help you politically. Notice how the Diaper Joe administration won’t allow refugees from Cuba to enter, why? Because they’ll probably vote Republican.

The whole way this is always presented in the media is in a way that
causes people to learn nothing, be able to discuss nothing, and it makes
people mad, and never amounts to anything.

The perfect environment for a fake government that is in some ways
conspiring against us - to follow the bidding of the people who set the
policies and do not want any change, or even discussion.

Why can nothing be asked or said for fear of being attacked, cancelled,
misquoted, or misinterpreted?

If you mention this issue from the Right, you're called a racist, hater,
and associated with racist mass-shootings.

If you come at this issue from the Left, you're a communist, and you
want open-borders.

When the truth is that companies bring in enough "contemporary slave
labor" in the form immigrant to avoid paying Americans well enough to
live. Trump did it with Polish construction workers, and did not even end
up paying them at all. Pretty cheap labor. Regular people want to be
able to hire people to do simple construction, repair or maintenance
work to be able to afford it.

Everyone saves a significant amount of money when they have the ability
to hire immigrants, or illegal immigrants. No one likes to talk about it or
admit it, but its true. There is a ton of opinions on just that and what
goes along with that.

Should people who come here to work, and who pay taxes have a claim
on citizenship? Can we survive without a virtual slave underclass that we
pretend is not there while we have certain labor laws for Americans, and
what effect does that have and on who?

It’s all part and parcel of the Great Replacement conspiracy theory that’s been touted by far-right extremists and white supremacists, which stokes fears that white people are being replaced, both demographically and culturally, by non-white people who have higher birth rates.

So, what do the statistics and demographics actually say? What is the question? What is their answer?

reply

“have more babies” instead of bringing in “foreigners to have the babies we won’t have.”

Both choices are wrong , theres far too many people on this planet .
how about we just dont reproduce like a virus all over the place?
Let the population decrease.

Yes It'll mean a larger than average proportion (burden) of old folk , but thats a hit we have to take
