The Facade Is Crumbling

As the report notes, the revelations by the Jan 6th committee investigating the Capitol insurrection that forced lawmakers from both sides of the aisle to flee for their lives is taking a toll not only on the former president's already tattered reputation but also of big money Republican Party donors who are starting to look for other candidates to invest in.

As the Politico report states, conservative voters are, for the most part, still enamored by Trump but “elements of the voters, donors and activists that make the three pillars of the party are exhausted too, they say. And they’re growing less willing to let the baggage of the Trump years complicate the future.”

Dollars to doughnuts Trumps gets the nomination anyway.

reply

Its actually looking like DeSantis though.

reply

Is a more calculating and competent Trump a good thing or a bad thing?

reply

Its worse because he won't be as boisterous which means the left won't pay as much attention to him.

Trump is the biggest enemy of liberals.

DeSantis is the biggest enemy of progressives.

reply

Which is likely as bad and probably worse.

Florida is a shit hole (rump's words) and it's unbelievable actual citizens of a state in the United would support such a duplicitous cretin like DeSantis. People like DeSantis will collect your money then tell you it will rain when you most need it, run out of town when it doesn't happen, then come back and say it wasn't their fault and it WILL happen this time, as long as you cough up the money.
Absolutely horrible, and I thought we Americans were smarter than this.
But that's what publicans are pushing for -- make everyone stupider and prey on their stupidity.

I like Gov. Gavin Newsom for president in 2024. He's more aggressive and will likely get more things done for Democrats.

Do you live under a rock?

reply

Yes, Bicksurn does live under a rock.

reply

That equals a criminal record on a background check. Disqualification for a nursing license in Pa. (among other disqualifications).

reply

Even if Trump goes to prison long enough to get shanked, kill himself, or die of natural causes, the damage is done. His SCOTUS picks will be with us for a long time.

reply

Sadly true...

Let's not forget all the district court judges Trump has appointed for very long terms as well. It was over the minute Democrats allowed the GOP Congress to delay Obama's Merrick Garland pick. All the protesting you're seeing now we should have seen back then. Since then, the GOP has smelled blood in the water and realized there is nothing they can't get away with if they act ruthlessly, shamelessly, and hypocritically enough to achieve it. And you KNOW, if a Democratic Congress had tried to pull the same stunt for a W. or Trump pick the conservative WOULD HAVE been out on the street demanding their guy be allowed to get his SCOTUS pick. And you also KNOW they would have been floating the idea about expanding the SC if they couldn't get their way. The Democrats were politically weak and will now pay the price for that weakness. The GOP have testing the limits to see what Democrats are going to do about it, and it isn't much and then holler and hand-wringing. And any attempt at expanding the court will lead us on a collision course for disaster.

Thank you for saying this. I often have difficulty elucidating my outrage over the calumny lowering over our Nation by the current publican gang of criminals. You said it well.

reply

so only democrats should be able to do these things? this is just whining you know. a lot of leftist projection here.

reply

To do what things? I'm saying the Democrats should have protested the outrageous refusal to allow Obama his pick on the Supreme Court more vigorously, and that I'm 100% certain the GOP would have done it and make exactly the opposite arguments they made at the time... and they would have been correct to do so. There wouldn't have been this absurd imbalance on the court, which is currently ramrodding a decision that the majority of Americans don't want and didn't vote for. I'm saying packing the courts is a bad idea, but I'm also saying I have no doubt whatsoever that the GOP would have the least compunction to do exactly that if there was an advantage in it for them.
