18-Year-Olds Can't Buy Cigarettes nor Alcohol, But Can Buy Military-Style Weapons for Mass Killings!

Republicans are retarded!

More acts of retardation from gun nut Republicans who oppose ALL sane gun regulation:

"Days before the shooting (BOULDER, COLORADO: MARCH 22, 2021. 10 DEAD), a judge struck down city ordinances banning assault rifles and high-capacity magazines in Boulder, citing a state law prohibiting local gun bans. The NRA backed the lawsuit challenging the ordinances. A judge ruled last month that Alissa is mentally incompetent to stand trial."

"Seth Aaron Ator purchased an AR-style rifle through a private sale, allowing him to evade a federal background check (MIDLAND, TEXAS, AUG. 31, 2019. 7 DEAD)."

"His mother raised concerns about the purchase in a call to police on June 27. Police said she asked if Crusius, who was 21 at the time, was old enough to buy a gun. Police said she was assured he was and that he’d qualify if he passed a background check. (EL PASO, TEXAS, AUG. 3, 2019. 23 DEAD)"

"California tried to outlaw high-capacity magazines, but a federal judge reversed that after a pro-gun group sued. Months before the shooting, sheriff’s deputies called to Long’s home found him acting irrationally, but a mental health specialist didn’t feel he needed to be involuntarily committed. (THOUSAND OAKS, CALIFORNIA: NOV. 7, 2018. 12 DEAD)"

"17-year-old student, used a shotgun and a .38-caliber handgun that his father purchased legally and stored in a closet at their home. Prior to the attack, Pagourtzis posted a photo on social media of a T-shirt with the phrase “Born to Kill” and had writings indicating he planned to attack his high school. A judge sent him to a mental health facility after ruling he was incompetent to stand trial. (SANTA FE, TEXAS: MAY. 18, 2018. 10 DEAD)

"He’d been treated at a mental health clinic but hadn’t been there in more than a year. Federal law prohibits gun purchases if a court declares a person a “mental defective” or commits that person to an institution, but not if the person seeks treatment voluntarily." (PARKLAND, FLORIDA: FEB. 14, 2018. 17 DEAD)

"Kelley’s history of domestic abuse barred him from buying guns. He was able to because information about his crimes was never entered into a federal database used for background checks. The Air Force failed to follow rules requiring that it inform the FBI about his conduct." (SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, TEXAS: NOV. 5, 2017. 25 DEAD)

"Paddock purchased 33 of the 49 weapons. His gradual accumulation of guns went undetected because federal law doesn’t require licensed gun dealers to alert the government about rifle purchases. (LAS VEGAS: OCT. 1, 2017. 58 DEAD)

"Even if he’d been placed on a terrorism watch list, Congress in 2015 rejected attempts to prevent people on the list from purchasing guns. (ORLANDO, FLORIDA: JUNE 12, 2016. 49 DEAD)

"A drug arrest should’ve prevented Dylann Roof from purchasing the pistol he used at Emanuel AME Church, but a record-keeping error and background check delay enabled the transaction to go through. (CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA: JUNE 17, 2015. 9 DEAD)

"Alexis, a former reservist turned civilian contractor, passed background checks and legally purchased the shotgun used in the Washington Navy Yard shooting despite recent mental health treatment and a history of violent outbursts. He previously fired a gun in anger twice but wasn’t prosecuted in either case. (WASHINGTON: SEPT. 16, 2013. 12 DEAD)

"Holmes was receiving psychiatric treatment when he passed required federal background checks and legally purchased the weapons he used in his movie theater assault.(AURORA, COLORADO: JULY 20, 2012. 12 DEAD)

After Parkland, Jessie Squeaky Watters went on record saying that the AR15 was not militarily grade because (get this) he illustrated with his thumb & forefinger that the 5.56 (.223) round is only around two inches long.

LOL! I've got news for you, Squeaky--the US Military has been killing people with that round since the 1960s.

reply

Me and friends got 22's in middle school and went around shooting then. I went to shotguns and them others and shotgun and ar type stuff. None of us have killed or robbed anyone with them.

reply

There's no proof of that.

reply

Bullshit.

reply

You believe elcamino is BSing, too!

reply

I've been shooting since I was about 5yrs old. Had my first air rifle at 8 and first firearm at 10yrs old. Most of us who do it have been doing it all our lives without having killed a single innocent person. People like you are completely ignorant of this subject, yet you freely pass judgment on things you clearly do not understand.

reply

I understand that family members have started burying their children because of another mass shooting.

reply

Which has what to do with law abiding gun owners? Nothing.

You understand nothing. You Google for lies and regurgitate them here.

reply

It's never to late to start.

reply

18 year olds aren't old enough to own guns... But a 9 year old thinking they need puberty blockers is perfectly normal...??

🤡🌎

reply

I agree. You should lay off the puberty blockers; your mom says you are taking too many.

reply

I had a 22 rifle when I was 13 and even bought it myself from the pawn shop without a having to sign anything. I could go to the store and buy bullets also back then.

reply

Do you want a medal or do you want a chest to pin it on?

reply

I miss the days a parent could take us to Astroworld and pick us up at the end of the day.

reply

I m sure that if you ask real nice, your parents will still take you. They may not show up to bring you back, but who could blame them?

reply

The place is full of gangs now.

reply

Don't let that dissuade your parents. Tell them that you will fit in well.

reply

That shouldn't be an issue. Give your kid a gun to protect themselves and they should be fine since you believe guns make you safe. Ask Abbott to lower the carry age to 3.

reply

Well there was a time when schools had gun and archery training in them. Keep guns away from people with mental problems. Parents should have the time to know what there children are doing.

reply

"Keep guns away from people with mental problems. "

In the United States, almost half of adults (46.4 percent) will experience a mental illness during their lifetime.
https://www.mentalhealthfirstaid.org/2019/02/5-surprising-mental-health-statistics/

You're saying that guns should be banned since mental illness is so high.

reply

Democrats will say anyone that can spell Ivanka is a mental and can't have a gun.

reply

" I was 13 and even bought it myself from the pawn shop without a having to sign anything"

Thats just mind blowing.
To the rest of the world thinks its crazy that you all have the right as civilians to walk around with AR15s, but thats the system so ok .

BUT for a 13 year old kid to just buy a gun in a shop with no paperwork or anything is just plain fucking stupid.

The difference between those two examples id where the debate should lie.
Instead it just devolves into "Dey Take ARe GUNZZ!!"

reply

50 years ago, you couldn't find a ar in a small town pawn shop or a kid be able to afford one. My 22 was a semi automatic though.

reply

yeah i wasnt talking about a kid buying a AR , just the .22
semi auto you say?

Children ! buying real guns! just amazing

I mean would it be the end of the world if they had the same rules as cars?
age 17 / license required / test of competence?

(although i realise you let kids drive cars in the US too :) )

reply

In the world before homo fag boys came around to ruin it.A 22 was no more than a pellet or bb gun.

reply

There's a funny scene in the movie Running Scared about that

reply

You can't propose ANY legislation that will affect criminals, only law abiding citizens.

reply

Nonsense!

New Zealand, the UK and Australia successfully strengthened their gun laws after they each had one gun massacre .

Also, several countries removed pro-gun legislation from their constitutions because it raised gun violence.

reply

Yes, by banning outright civilian ownership. Not just stripping law abiding citizens of their rights but their property as well. If you think that such laws can be passed in the US, you're dumber than I thought.

reply

no , the UK strengthens its laws after EACH massacre

But that just wont work in the USA

reply

It can and has been done in the past.

reply

18 year old Americans can vote and go die in useless wars but cannot buy tobacco or beer. Fixed it for you.

reply

18-year-olds were a disproportionate number of drunk driving accidents which proved they were TOO IRRESPONSIBLE and TOO IMMATURE to be allowed continued access to alcohol. That is the reason the age was raised from 18 to 21!

18-year-olds who smoke are more likely to become addicted and die from the habit as opposed to those starting at 21. That's the reason the age was recently raised.

Ironically, 18-year-olds are LESS LIKELY TO VOTE which is what determines foreign policy.

Children are more likely to die from gunfire than a soldier in the U.S. army which is presently ALL VOLUNTEER.

Context and history. Fixed it for you.

reply

I would give you they are too irresponsible drink at 18, but your comments on tobacco are just lies. Simple as that. People generally smoke and do drugs because of their environment. Not because of an addiction.

Children are clearly not more likely to die from gunfire than those fighting of in wars. You're being extreme. Banning guns in this country can and will never actually work. It is unrealistic. Not even major Democrats would agree to banning all guns. And the more extreme weaponry would just be pushed into the country illegally just like drugs. Another war that has been a huge failure.

We now know what really happened in this latest shooting at a school. The locals failed big time and allowed the shooter to run around for around an hour before anything was done. How many lives were lost because of that? That isn't a sexy talking point so you'll just ignore that.

reply

Tobacco is addictive. Their reasons for starting isn't the point. The point is how difficult it becomes to stop.

More children have died from guns than U.S. soldiers in the past few years based on statistics.

Scapegoating. An unbalanced 18-year-old was allowed to buy a military weapon because the GOP wants gun lobbyists donations.

A hearty moviechat welcome to yet another RWNJ sock!

reply

Hate to burst your bubble but I'm not a fake or a sock account. I'm an OG member of the IMDB political board(CowherPower was my name back then) and since 2017 when they closed I've been over on the freeforums IMDB 2.0 board(CowherPowerForever was my name on that site). Sadly, the mods got stricter over the last year or so and I recently got the axe.

I went looking for a new place to debate people from both sides and I found this site. Which is easily the best so far. I was hoping a few of the people I knew over there were also on here, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Now you know.

reply

A sock would know a sock of course...

reply

I have no problem changing the age at which someone is considered an adult from 18 to 21. It's your hypocrisy I have a problem with. IMHO, if you can apply for a loan, buy a house, get a full time job, die for your country and vote, you should be able to own a firearm, buy tobacco and alcohol without restriction.

reply

You should be relieved the government removed so many drunk-driving 18-year-olds from the road unless you like the idea of one crashing head-on into your car.

reply

Are you really so stupid that you think the law keeps underage kids from drinking and driving? I graduated high school 30yrs ago. We buried friends that got drunk and drove their car. Has that problem gotten any better? No, it's worse. Kids can get alcohol. Criminals can get guns.

reply

18-Year-Olds are also eligible for the draft and can buy cigarettes.

reply

The age to buy tobacco was raised to 21 in all 50 states in December 2019.

reply

did not know that.

well they are still eligible for the draft and can be sent off to war and die after they graduate HS...

reply

As far as I know, yes, an 18-year old is eligible for the draft.

reply

The U.S. doesn't have a draft.

reply

So then 18 yr olds should be able to get cancer and become alcoholic? This is your argument?
