Georgia Republicans purge Black Democrats from county election boards

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/georgia-republicans-purge-black-democrats-county-election-boards-2021-12-09/

Last year, Sunday voting was key to boosting the turnout of Black voters in Spalding County, Georgia. But this October, people protested the county's election board, upset that they disallowed early voting on Sundays for the Nov. 2 municipal election.

This year, an entirely different five-member board has overseen the election, and the Democratic majority of three Black women was gone, as well as the Black elections supervisor.

Now a faction of three white Republicans controlled the board and the Spalding board’s new chairman has endorsed former president Donald Trump’s false stolen-election claims on social media.

The Georgia restructurings are part of a national Republican effort to expand control over election administration in the wake of Trump’s false voter-fraud claims. Republican-led states such as Florida, Texas and Arizona have enacted new curbs on voter access this year.

Until 2013, Georgia elections operated under federal oversight to ensure fair participation for Black voters. Democrats say Republicans are trying to expand their control over nonpartisan functions.

Aaand so it begins...

reply

Only white Republicans can vote and decide close elections.

reply

You are a racist bucket of puke.

reply

Yes, the white Republicans who prevent black people from voting and create biased election results are racist bucket of puke.

We both agree. Bravo!

reply

The voting laws in your cult leaders own state are more restrictive than Georgia’s so if anyone is a racist it’s your cult leader.

Hmm hmm, interesting stuff. Seems Delaware is slowly changing on those 'restrictive' laws at the beginning of next year, heh, go figure.

reply

Which makes it beyond disgusting that they would call voter integrity laws “Jim Crow 2.0” when many blue states are more restrictive. It’s race baiting at its worst

reply

Welcome to today's Democrat party, not that you're stupid enough to join them.

reply

So fair reporting LOL.

I will show your dumbass one time.

""""""Trump’s false stolen-election claims """"""

Below is FACT not my opinion.

These are CLAIMS not "false claims". They have neither been proven true or false.

The writer has a very clear bias.
If you weren't moronically biased you would see it.
Simple as fuck.

reply

You are a racist bucket of puke.

reply

Calm down my boy, my fight's not with you. If you want to discuss it, feel free to do so. Take it out on the article if you have to but don't drag me into it. This is just what's happening on the news currently and the 'false claims' is up to interpretation given that Trump's legal team failed on all lawsuits except 1. You don't see Giuliani pulling that stunt during court proceedings.

reply

They have neither been proven true or false.

True, but millions of republicans have tried and failed to produce a single shred of evidence.
Its about as credible as faking the moon landings

Most "sane" people accept these claims for what they are complete bullshit made up by trump.

reply

Yup, that's Georgia alright.

reply

It may shock the liberals among us but what conservatives want are fair elections. Because you people just want to win at all costs, you assume we want the same. Like so much other crap you believe, it ain't true.

reply

"you people"

LOL! You're so self-unaware.

Fair elections = only white Republicans vote.

reply

Sorry but you're wrong and wrong-headed.

reply

No. What's wrong with fair election laws like voter ID?

You're the self-unaware one AND a proven, total liar who just spouts racist, racist, racist while being a racist and anti-Semite.

reply

You'd be surprised at what GOP want. You'd only have to look at the district redrawing and gerrymandering which heavily favors the GOP. Both sides want power, just Dems suck at the messaging and why the Cons have a upperhand in many of the state legislators.

reply

Republicans want power ...
Democrats want democracy.

reply

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I LOVE your sarcasm!!!

reply

We shouldn’t be voting on Sundays. We shouldn’t be voting by mail in ballots unless you have a legitimate reason for doing so. There use to be a time if voters were going to be out of town or some other approved reason for not voting in person, voters had to go to the Supervisor of Elections office and request a ballot. There use to be a time when poll watchers were diligent in their duties. If a voter wasn’t in line by 7 PM s/he forfeited the right to vote. My mom was usually the first one to vote because she took the time to vote at 7AM before going to work. There use to be a time when you applied for a driver’s license a person didn’t register to vote. Being granted a driver’s license has nothing to do with voting.

All of the above has resulted in voter fraud. We didn’t have the problems with voting as we do now. Give people an inch…and they will take a mile!

reply

Why should we not be voting by mail in? Aren't we trying to eliminate big crowds in order to keep covid down? You say this has resulted in voter fraud? So I am asking are you one of those people that thinks Trump won?

reply

It's a lot harder to cheat when people actually show up to a specific place to vote. You are cutting down on the chain of custody and requiring an actual face to be present when the ballot is filled out. There is also a reason they instruct people never ever to send cash through the mail.

The covid crowd shit was always a farce.

reply

Covid's over, Omicron is the common cold.

Mail in ballots should only be absentee, and sent via official request only. Unsolicited ballots a la 2020 are a mechanism to obvious election fraud.

reply

” Why should we not be voting by mail in?”

Because of fraud! There are people who admitted they voted more than once in the same election.
It’s so very easy to do.

BTW, what has me saying we shouldn’t be voting via mail have to do with Trump winning or losing?

https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/feb/19/ohio-poll-worker-who-admits-voting-twice-obama-may/

reply

I highly doubt any of you would care about fraud had the candidate you voted for won. I find it funny how this was claimed even before the election was counted. This narrative was going to be pushed all along. If Trump loses it is election fraud, if he wins he won fair and square.

reply

You must be desperate to start an argument about Trump! You went back a month to reply? Well, I’m not biting! Have fun!

reply

No I am simply pointing out the hypocrisy of people such as yourself. So I will go ahead and take that as you admitting I was correct. I do not blame you I would rather quit while I was ahead than actually admit to the truth.

reply

I’ve never said one way or another so don’t pin that on me. I’m not admitting you are correct and I’m not admitting the truth or the lies. I don’t know what in the hell occurred. So you can take whatever and shove it where the don’t shine.

reply

You constantly bring up the fact that there is voter fraud. Which to me seems to imply you think that Trump would have won. Be honest you hope and pray they find enough fraud in order to make him president again. Oh and quite classy telling me to stick something there, very lady like.

reply

”Which to me seems to imply you think that Trump would have won.”

I wrote no such thing! I was implying generalities. We are aware there is voter fraud, but it doesn’t mean Trump would have won. You have a habit of inferring wrongly what I write which peeves me, so therefore I get my dander up.

reply

Then why do you keep referring to it? There was voter fraud, good now unless you can prove it would have made a difference in the outcome of the election quit bringing it up!

How is it easy to do?
Surely to god theres some kind of "reference number" sent to the voters house to accompany their vote to guard against that sort of thing?
or some measure?

You talk like you could just print out 1000 copies of "I vote for x" and send them in .

reply

Same reply to you.

You must be desperate to start an argument about Trump! You went back a month to reply? Well, I’m not biting! Have fun!

reply

I didnt go back a month this thread was bumped today so top of the list .

Same reply to you.
what reply? you havent replied to anything

oh you mean when you said
"You went back a month to reply? Well, I’m not biting! Have fun!"

reply

I hate to bump this again, but I should have directed my reply only to einstein…not to you. mea culpa

reply

Trump repeatedly voted by mail.

Are you admitting he committed voter fraud and needs to go to prison for the next 20 years?

reply

You people are really nothing but childish trolls. You have no real argument whatsoever.

reply

"You people"?

reply

You’re just itching to make something out of that, aren’t you?

reply

Which state you vote in? If you're willing to share that is.

https://ballotpedia.org/

You can compare with other states through this site. Many are similar or have slight tweaks to them. Others are restrictive.

Currently in Mississippi. Moved here from Florida. We always wanted to have a waterfront view and we do. I live across the street from the Gulf. My husband died last year and I’m packing to move back to Florida.

Wow, this was quite an article to conjure up an Orange Fans Bad narrative lol. They even had to make it BOLD & UNDERLINED just to make sure you knew...

Meanwhile BLM and Antifa are walking peacefully holding peace signs and singing Kumbaya. They’re also passing out water to those who are watching.

reply

I dont know how you manage to make it so complicated and difficult to vote in the US.
Here in the UK if people wanna vote , they vote.

You can do it in advance by post if you want , if you can be bothered setting that up .
Or you turn up on the day and do it.
You travel less than a mile and queue for less than 20 minutes.

the day isnt a sunday though , which is apparently an issue according to the OP quote
upset that they disallowed early voting on Sundays

reply

Republicans are a minority so they don't want Democrats voting.

reply

yes , no party wants the other party's voters to vote.
My point is , why is it so difficult to vote in the US?

and whats all this about voting on sunday?
How many days do people need the polling stations to be open for ?
we do 1day in the UK . Thursday usually.
