Thank god almost everyone was smart enough to ignore the idiocy of Trump, but it is only due to the devil that some people who understood it as evil played along. That is the most evil and dangerous threat our nation faces, division by corruption of reality. I think that is why every, if not almost every human civilization has had religion. It may not be perfect, and often it is downright toxic, but it binds people to a common reality. The challenge of humanity's future is to find a just and rational way to evolve religion towards something just and rational.

I've always kind of liked Joe Biden, and seen potential in him. I think in 2008 he advocated the partitioning of Iraq into Sunni, Shia and Kurdish states ... and that would have been good. And both Dukakis and Mondale would have been better than their Republican counterparts.
