Actually that whole album has his best playing imo

"One Foot Out the Door" has some insane playing at the end. How anyone could do that is beyond me.

There are so many classic songs, but “Hot For Teacher” is my favorite Van Halen song. It’s incredible in every way!

As for an underrated gem, I love the song “Humans Being“ from the Twister soundtrack, the last official song of “Van Hagar”, haha. Eddie’s guitar sounds incredible on that track, especially the intro.

R.I.P. Eddie Van Halen.

I really liked Van Hagar at the time (at least 5150 and OU812 - the rest not so much)

but the only song that remains on my iTunes is "5150" (along with everything from the "Van LeeRoth" records.

Btw about 10 yrs ago I was stopped at a stop light with my window down and a couple lanes over was someone on an idling Harley waiting for the light to turn. That's when I realized that the drumming at the beginning of Hot For Teacher wasn't just random drumming. He (Alex) was imitating a Harley.

Seriously? No one's said Runnin' With The Devil? First track on the first record?

oh man.

I get pissed when the new DJ's put the song on and talk over the beginning licks. SACRILEGE!

When I was in HS I was probably one of the first million to buy their first album. I went to the record store to get Cat Scratch Fever and it wasn't there (thank God) so I bought VH1. It was so different than what other music sounded like at the time. At first a lot of it sounded to me like noise coming thru my cheap speakers.

About a week before he passed away I decided to order all of the Van Halen albums from Amazon, so I will slowly work my way through them and let you know.

Fair Warning and 1984 are the best. Fair Warning has some songs that take a little getting used to before you like them.

Very underrated song. People tend to only think about Jump when it comes to their use of keyboard synth, but I always found this to be their best use of it.

As for Eddie's guitar, this is the one I have the most respect for.

"I'll Wait" - Not crazy about the song, but I think it's one of Eddie's best solos.
