You had FDR prolonged the great depression with his social programs rather than allowing the market to correct itself and was bailed out by WWII.
You had LBJ that failed in the Vietnam War with his indecisive decisions and his racist domestic policies.
You had Carter and the era of hyperinflation and oil shortages.
You had Clinton, who failed to take out Bin Laden when the opportunity arose and treated women like objects. If you're going to bitch about Trump, you should be bitching about Bubba as well. Passed NAFTA, which did nothing for the US.
You had Obama, who did NOTHING for African Americans. Enacted policy that bypassed Congress entirely. "Caged kids" at the border. Op. Fast & Furious. IRS Scandal. Iran nuclear deal. All on his watch.
Finally, I will mention Kennedy. A democrat that said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."

shareUnfortunately, it doesn't matter whose fault it is at this point. The stock market IS going to decline because the supply chain IS being disrupted - in a massive way. You can't print your way out of a supply shock. The economy can't keep humming if tourist areas are empty, if people in the U.S. are being laid off due to supply shortages, if people are uncertain about the future. Just basic economics. All the rest of this gibber gabber is just political posturing. For my part, I am willing to give Trump a chance to help mitigate this problem. I may not like him but he's all we got. It's up to Trump and his administration to do their best. If they don't do their best it won't be too hard to measure by the results.
shareWhile you may be jumping the gun a bit with the dire economic predictions, it does underscore another problem with putting too many eggs in one basket (China) as a supplier. Potential disruptions would be mitigated if those factories were more spread out. In a bad enough scenario trade with every nation could be disrupted of course, but if we weren't so heavily tied to China, ruled by an opaque totalitarian government typically unwilling to cooperate with US experts to boot (unlike...say...India or some of the other friendlier Asian/Pacific nations), we'd be better able to absorb particular supply shocks.

Democrats are all about power and don't care much about human life or suffering. Some (e.g. Bill Maher) openly admit they're rooting for recessions or other bad news for political reasons. They're desperate because they don't think they can beat Trump this fall and they view any bad news for America as good news for them, so they're grasping at this corona straw, wishfully hoping things get worse, even though it's ludicrous to blame a Chinese virus on Trump, especially when so far at least the USA seems to have handled it better than Europe or the rest of the world.
