This idiotic piece collapses when one points out that his hackish leftist sources aren't looking at whether it's Republicans or Democrats WITHIN each state paying their way (yes, there are Republicans in "blue states" and Democrats in "red states"), controlling for race (or party affiliation) when bashing states like Mississippi, or examining the party affiliation of those on food stamps. Do that and get back to me. It also ignores the fact that a massive chunk of that "federal money" is highway/national park funding imposed on geographically large, relatively sparsely populated states by the federal government.

That said, I'm open to the idea of a national split. We could have a period of time (maybe 10 years; maybe indefinite) where Americans are allowed to immigrate freely across to the new nation of their choosing, voting with their feet. The liberal and conservative nation could each put its desired policies into place. If, after a few decades, one system is clearly superior to the other, then maybe we could even have a reunification.

Just so you know though, Americans have already been immigrating in large numbers from the northeast to conservative southern and western states for decades now. Hopefully the liberal states won't opt to keep their population from leaving by force like East Germany and North Korea.
