The single greatest Science Fiction movie of all-time?

SF is without a doubt my favorite genre, no other genre questions our own existence and reality in a similar way. There are countless great, visionary, original and unique SF movies out there, but if I had to choose the single greatest of all-time, it would be a tie between The Matrix (1999) and Interstellar (2014).

2001: A Space Odyssey hands down.

IMHO it's the greatest film of all time.

2001: A Space Odyssey hands down. I'm listening to the soundtrack as I type this.

RIP Arthur C. Clarke and Stanley Kubrick.

Dune (1984) is my favorite, epic awesome setting and direction, unique story and amazing acting and cast etc.

2001: A Space Odyssey is another contender for greatest sci-fi movie

You mean like " no offense but...." or " I apologize in advance..." where offense is being telegraphed, seeking a pass, equally as deceptive ?

Are you listening to the words that are coming out of your mouth?

Oh, there you go again ..... parroting a talking point gleaned from your television.

Unlike you, I don't use such trite expressions.

Good for you.

"The single greatest Science Fiction movie of all-time?"
That phrase is subjective. When you say that, you have to realize that there are different types of science fiction films. Are you talking about action/adventure or more cerebral films? And you can break those subgenres down further: Space based? Superheroes? (Yes, I consider superhero films to be a subgenre of sci-fi).
So, while one person will say "2001" while another may say "The Road Warrior".
That's why I don't think that there is one greatest science fiction film. There is my favorite and your favorite, but you ask 100 people individually and you may get 100 different answers.
