Early 1980's, New Wave, male singer, I think British...

So bizarre this song popped up in my head...

A song that has a line like "No time like the present for communication" in the lyrics is Quiet Riot "The Wild and the Young".

Early 1980's, New Wave, British solo male singer suggests Bryan Ferry or Paul Young to me.

I don't have a fit for your lyrics though.

It's not Bryan Ferry or Paul Young... Peter Murphy might be another possibility... also Ian Curtis/Joy Division...
