Hey, he didn't JUST have veggies in a bowl. He had a fifth of whiskey in the freezer. He'll be aight.
You aren't wrong. The half cockroach look is actually the actress' imdb picture. That's how awesome it is. We are SO lucky that they hired up and coming Renny Harlin to direct the movie just because he was cheap and the studio didn't want to spend any damn money (that's why Patricia Arquette isn't in the movie; she asked for a couple of dollars more, so New Line told her to screw off. I really like Tuesday Knight though, and her intro song is fantastic). Renny is a weird Finnish dude, and his touches are sprinkled all over the movie, like the cyberpunk robot arm and the soul food pizza.
The cockroach kill is probably my favorite in the series, but it needed a better one liner. Absolutely AMAZING practical effects though, and the creepiest I've ever felt watching the series. The "let's get high" heroin needles for fingers kill is my other favorite. The "welcome to primetime, bitch" tv kill is right behind those two.
And yes, the time loop is an underrated awesome aspect of the movie, another one of Harlin's touches.
Although Dream Master is personally my favorite NoES movie (I've watched it once a month for years), it is far from perfect, but this is the least of your problems. Her dad was obviously drunk, so I would just assume that Alice thought he was passed out or wouldn't put up a fight.
The much better question is why didn't Alice go out the window AFTER she was stopped at the door, instead of falling asleep in her bed and causing Debbie to die.
