The most perfect movie ever made. No matter who you are, what age, whether you like mainstream entertaining movies or artsy cinema, you will think this is one of the best movies ever made.
It was never supposed to be an exciting watch. When the Schindlers List had come out, many famous directors such as Haneke had remarked that it was wrong of Spielberg to use his storytelling skills to create suspense in such a movie. Such as the scene where the prisoners are waiting inside a shower and audience is wondering whether this is going to be a normal shower or a execution.
We are supposed to witness the "Banality of Evil". How unspeakable evil can be carried out in extremely banal ways and mundane settings.
The movie is as interesting as the knowledge the individual viewer brings to the theater.
No producer in their right mind would let Conor be killed. Lets face it. Whether you like him or not, Conor has a huge fan following. The way the entertainment industry works is you get paid not by your talents but by the amount of people you can bring to the theaters. One of the main draws of the movie was that it is the movie where Conor Mcgregors enters into hollywood.
And from the producers point of view if the movie goes on to become a hit, they would be thinking of a sequel to cash in on the popularity and they would want Conor again to reprise the role to again bring in his star power.
Financially it would not be possible to kill off such a popular star.
I think it works without the backstory. He is just the Hollywood stock character of the "Cartoonishly psychopathic antagonist". The Chaotic Evil persona.
