lol Bill Maher 🤡 he's exactly the milquetoast liberals who've led the Democratic Party to the path of nonviability pretending to have the high ground. It was a very well-made movie, one that was crafted for broad audiences. It's pretty obviously not 'designed for children', it's a musical fantasy for all ages. I enjoyed it because it had a compelling story, really solid acting with very well-developed and interesting characters, and pretty good music. If a movie doesn't appeal to you, don't watch it. You don't have to pretend it's bad or infantile. You're the fringe minority of people who've watched it -- and that's ok. You don't have to build yourself up by knocking down the hordes of people who've found joy in something you happen to not like. this aged poorly the author of the Wicked book series said everyone in Oz (his version) is basically bi. well, you were catastrophically wrong. it's virtually guaranteed to cross $700 million in the box office, and with the $70 million it's made in digital sales in its first week, it's in the green for both movies, with the second yet to be released. Very successful, and they'd be dumb to not expand the franchise further at this point. yeah, I'm aware! I was just saying it like that because the OP said they wished it wasn't a musical. A Wicked movie has been in the works for over a decade, so it's not that surprising that it came out far more polished. I actually now remember Oz, the Great and Powerful exists as a movie. Despite having seen it in the movie theater, I do not remember *anything* of it besides the cast, which is crazy. I think Wicked works really well as a musical. The original WOO was a musical, so why not have its re-imaging as one, too? You could also just read 'the Wicked Years' series, which the musical is based on. It has 4 books. I suspect if Wicked is successful enough, they'll turn the other books into musicals and musical movies, too. deserves it. best movie of the year handily imo. projecting projection, how very typical of a rightoid Not really. It's truly its own animal. They even show Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion, etc., which alone shows it's clearly not truly a prequel to the original movie, but truly its own continuity and story (although it does try to keep its lore more in line with the TWOO's movie). It's basically a re-imagining. View all replies >
