Interesting choice. I think I saw that movie when I was 14 so I don't remember it well. I'll have to rewatch it. Apparently his first uncredited role was in "Across 110th Street".
True, he might not be a household name but his name is out there.
Perhaps he thought Vince was so incompetent after blowing off Marvin's head, he was being put on notice.
Thanks for your response. IMO regarding 8, I am definitely against corporate bailouts even if it means (regrettably) average employees being retrenched and smaller shareholders losing their life savings. However, in relation to not-for-profits, I think their work could be more targeted and better meets the needs of the disadvantaged.
Agreed. I saw that movie when I was 14 and will never forget the dread and sorrow I felt.
I once had breakfast at Flurys in Kolkata when I was travelling in India by myself. But then this Austrian tourist asked if he could join me and I happily accepted. This was back in the days when the only social media was MSN Messenger. Otherwise I had hardly spoken to family and friends for the past 2 and a half weeks so I really enjoyed his company!
I see. What also struck me was how the religious themes were omitted, especially when Sonya reads the Bible to appeal to Raskolnikov's conscience. Perhaps there was an element of socialist realism behind this adaptation. I think the OP had a really good point and I was disappointed they left out Svidrigailov's dream. In case anyone hasn't read the book yet, I won't give away the ending. But I mean, how depraved could Svidrigailov get yet in the end he does seem to feel guilt for his crimes!
I laughed out aloud at your pun! 🤣
It was a pointless war and a tragic loss of life for all concerned. However, WWI was wildly popular and it required support from soldiers and civilians from all walks of life: young and old, male and female, rich and poor... the list goes on.
"Rewriting history" is a good description. If anything, old books and films should be preserved as relics of their time.
I guess there are political and economic constraints affecting government expenditure for any government.
It's regrettable when individuals can't set aside their differences to work towards the common good.
And sadly it's a problem when people let their political biases interfere with their judgements of parties and individual politicians in terms of transparency and integrity. More often than not, I don't care if a politician identifies as liberal or conservative as opposed to standing for what they actually believe in.
Good point about Ukraine. I know it might be wishful thinking but the least problematic outcome is for an indefinite ceasefire so as to turn the clock back to pre-February 2014. Otherwise a countless number of people are dying every day and the West egging on Ukraine to fight Russia so as to weaken them isn't achieving a humanitarian outcome.
All that protein must have helped them with physical endurance on the battle field.
"Within reason" is a good approach in that it's a red flag if one partner is making unreasonable demands for a wedding (seriously, who blows 100K on a wedding??). On the other hand, it's a good sign that the relationship will last if both parties have different attitudes but can reach a compromise.
If it were legal for a man to have his sack on display, would he really do it??
Good choice! Nothing is as simple yet tasty as garlic bread.
Funerals really help family and friends with bereavement. But as far as weddings go, maybe nowadays I don't think family and friends don't feel that strongly about couples deciding to celebrate their relationships.
Perhaps as a far right extremist, he sympathised with the Argentinian junta.
Sure they are a nation of hardcore alcoholics but their beer is pretty good and as far as whisky goes, nothing beats Scotch. If an army has access to good booze, they can achieve anything.
