It's not really 'out of its way'. It's pretty accurate in its portrayal of black on white violence.
"Neo Nazi ideologists leave out the fact that Norton's character moves away from White Supremacy and seeks redemption."
But he doesn't really have a good reason for moving away, and redemption from what? He was right the ENTIRE time. The movie is literally packed with so much unprovoked black on white violence, they had to cut some out.
