I know all too well about addiction, several family members have overcome alcoholism and/or drug addiction and most times and even to this day, they were/are not the easiest with which to get along. The sex scenes that bothered me most - the one with the employment counselor (if you are "clean" then ACT like it and do not trade sexual favors for what you want) and of course, her father messing with her. Good thing Bobby and Lynn took in her child, Alexis would have likely ended up with that perverted POS and you could see his predatory actions with her at that "homecoming" and how he was all over that little girl. Gross! I agree with your post and thank you for your input! Late reply, but as much as he wanted Sally and was attracted to her, he knew that she would eventually leave him, she was much younger and not with him for the right reasons. In the end, he knew he was better suited to a woman his age, who was "into" his past and his persona of being a tough guy. And she was previously married to a tough guy, which made them people of similar history. The "older woman" was proud to be with him and he sought that in people, to be admired and looked up to. Grace filled his needs in that way. Plus she could support him financially, something else he needed. This is way late in response, but what the heck :) Not sure about today, but back in the 60's, if a man lost his father in combat, he was automatically excluded from being drafted. My Grandfather was killed in the Malmedy Massacre (Battle of the Bulge) in December 1944. My father had been born in October 1944 and months later, his father was shot and killed, never getting word that his son was born, just knew that his wife was expecting. My father was of age during the Vietnam draft, but was not called to action because of his father being KIA. It is likely that my Grandfather's death, saved my Dad's life. The son he never even knew he had. View all replies >
