I didn't find it disgusting at all. It involves an intersex person who all his life was a man with male sex organs and all. It wasn't until his 30's, when he had an appendectomy that it was discovered he also had ovaries and a uterus. This was not known until then. It wasn't his fault, he was born that way. As with intersex people, they can present more of as a male or more as a female. From what the Cardinal said, it was not known that female organs were present until the surgery. But he was a man bcz he also had male organs. This movie wasn't about being trans and pretending to be a man. I thought it was a thought provoking film. It may not be accurate about what actually goes in on in the conclave bcz it's always been private and sequestered. But to me it shows the divisive nature of humans and the politics of the side of liberal and conservative beliefs. It depicts back stabbing, lies and bad dealings. These are what bothers people bcz we hold men of God to higher standards. We don't want to think that this actually happens. That's what I left the theater feeling.
How is this woke? I have half Mexican daughters and none of us is so called woke the way it's radicalized today. Me and my family just don't care about color of skin or ethnicities. To me woke means without racism. Just bringing up color or ethnicities in people like it matters is opposite of woke. Woke means waking up and realizing that those things don't matter. Ignorant people make it matter.
Depends what you think "woke is". The original "woke" or the delusional far left extremist "woke". And why is this a question for every new movie that comes out? Expand your thought process. What you believe is woke might not be for someone else. It seems there are different levels nowadays, instead of one meaning.
I thought it could be the eruption of Mt St Helen's volcano. They never said. Or where the origin of the disaster started. All we know is the entire west coast is gone. Maybe the San Andres Fault line finally gave and shifted the entire west coast from CA to Washington. Anyway. It was boring and a lot of stupid things occurred.
SPOILER*******What was woke about Blink Twice? Because of the interracial aspect? I don't look at that as woke. Interracial relationships are pretty accepted and normal and have been for longer than "woke" culture existed. I'm trying to think of what else would be considered woke. That is such a broad term now. It's gotten really radicalized.
Depends what you mean by "woke". From my viewpoint, I didn't see "woke" at all. Just a good suspense thriller.
I saw it last night too. I agree with your take on it. I like the non sequential way of filming. Keeps people guessing and wondering as the chapters unfold. The story- good. Acting- good. A wild ride in a quick hour and a half.
I don't even remember a sex scene. All they do is kiss though. So much that it got gross to watch. All I kept thinking was, they are both married to other people in real life. Ew. I don't care if it's acting, it's just weird.
Exactly. Images in both of those films is very disturbing and gory. They showed a lot as do many other thriller or horror movies. BLINK TWICE did not show much as far as sexusl assault but is was implied. They spared us much of the details of every assault. I've seen many movies depicting SA and they showed a whole lot more as far as graphic scenes go. At least this movie had a trigger warning before it began. Maybe some should make the choice to leave instead of complaining. If they are that sensitive, maybe they should skip thrillers. There's always murder or violence in them but they choose to watch them to then post how offended or triggered they are. Come on.
Why? There are many real subjects that are made into movies. Real things. That's literally what movies do (besides the fantasy and superhero movies). People watch thrillers of every subject matter. Some people are triggered by war movies, does that mean they shouldn't make them? Some movies are about child abuse or spousal abuse. Should they not be allowed to make those either? . I really don't get why you are upset about movies that no one is forcing you to watch. Maybe don't watch it. I saw it today. It's about horrible things but so are movies about murder and those are a dime a dozen. We shouldn't censor real issues. If people choose to watch it, that is an individual choice.
I literally felt the same way while watching it today. A full narcissist on display and in true form, constantly putting herself in a good light, downplaying her bad behavior, and an obvious liar. She "character assassinated" anyone who says anything negative about her. That lawyer is just as despicable. I believe her son, the one she put away. She wanted to make sure nobody believed him. And why would the driver lie and give details about the murder? She definitely had it in her to commit murder. She is all about herself ans her image and would do anything to preserve that. She used people for her gain. I don't believe she cares about anyone but herself. And she'll only fake love you if you love her and allow her to manipulate you. Otherwise she has no need for you. It honestly disgusted me how bad she talked about everybody else and actually looks at herself as this great person who is a victim. And then end when it said the body of Sheena is still unclaimed in the morgue just angered me to no end. The defense saying it's not Sheena when it was confirmed with DNA. Creating doubt is just more manipulation. The whole case is just sickening. I hope justice prevails.
You should say your post has spoilers. I'm almost done watching this but didn't know the end.
I agree it could have went that way, but I think it was mostly a story around that main women who oversaw the min/body simulator, which helped those who were frantic and losing it. The movie did show many were struggling and having panic attacks and depression. But it did not show much of homicidal behaviors, just suicidal. Realistically, I think some of the people in charge would have shown more authority. They didn't show any medical facilities or offer any mental care other than the simulation room. People were lining up each day for years until it stopped working. Then people just went crazy, lost faith and checked out. There were so many things they could have touched on but I guess an average length movie didn't have enough time. This concept would make for a good series. That way they could show more of the religious sects, the crime, the crazies, the mental disorders, how people dealt with relationships and adding more children to the chaos, creation of hierarchy besides the lame captain, encounters with meteors or small celestial bodies. There are so many scenarios that would happen with a city of people flying through space, externally and internally.
He was playing an Oompa Loompa, a fictional character in a fantasy movie. He wasn't portraying Peter Dinklage. It literally could have been played by anyone, no matter their height. Hugh Grant's character was unnaturally tiny and he did mention that he was much smaller than the others of his kind. So even if they used an actor with dwarfism, they still would have used CGI to make him very small. I personally liked HG playing the Oompa Loompa. It was cute and funny. This is an unnecessary debate on a silly topic. Also, the term "midget" is also not used anymore. Just your comment alone is disrespectful. And the movie wasn't depriving anyone of anything. Think outside the box. It's a movie, a fictional fantasy movie.
I agree. I felt the same way when I saw it 2 days ago. I was so over it. I found myself getting bored and scrolling FB, checking my bank activity, adding things to my grocery list and dozing off a few times. I thought it would be a cute movie. I'm a young grandma and wanted to enjoy seeing something different. I'd rate it 4/10. It's just not my kind of movie I guess. No biggie, at least I can say I saw it.
I tend to agree with the OP. This movie wasn't very memorable. My husband fell asleep within the first 30 minutes and I felt bad that I dragged him with me to see it. It was all over the place, it wasn't captivating or worthy of pondering on after it was over. It just disappeared from my mind. I couldn't even tell you what it was about. Forgettable to me.
I saw it at AMC and didn't experience that. It was cool as always. I haven't heard of this happening.
You are absolutely correct!
Agree. Yes, it's an ugly topic, but it must be acknowledged and spoken about. There needs to be more awareness to it. We can't bury our heads in the sand any longer. At this point it's about protecting the most vulnerable of our society. It's strange to me that people want to cancel speech about it rather than be pro active in the cause. At least acknowledge it and realize we can do our part to fight and prevent such atrocities as human trafficking and child s***** a****. The ones that snub their noses at this movie, either want to remain in denial bcz the subject is too unpleasant or are okay with this evil for whatever reason. Anyone who turns a blind eye is part of the problem as well. Human traffic scouts are emboldened bcz there is a market and lots of money involved. Honestly, that's one of the scary things to me. People that have enough money, can do and buy just about anything they want. Money buys silence as well. The first step is bringing awareness. Those evil people don't want you to know what's going on in the darkest parts of society. They want you to go about your business and pretend that this is not a real problem. Heaven forbid we talk about it! Oh no! This needs to be talked about!
This review pretty much sums it up and I totally agree with everything. My guess is lots of people will feel the same. I'd give it 1 out of 4 stars, maybe almost a 2 because the acting wasn't bad.
