Oh, didn't know about that spin-off!
However, having watched the trailer, I feel I would've been better off not knowing...
Thanks for the details. So many episodes, can't remember them all :)
I guess one of the reasons the infection is never really explained is so they can retain the "artistic license" to improvise with these things. The down side is of course that, if not handled carefully, it might become contradictive or plainly doesn't make sense... They're getting close to the latter; it might not be readily apparent but doesn't add up in close scrutiny.
Ah, ok, that probably happened. ;)
I don't remember the details, did they die from normal infection - that does exist in the real world :) - or "zombie infection" ?
Hm... trying to remember when zombie blood was bad... Care to remind me? Unless you're thinking of the radioactive ones? Those are of course bad for other reasons.
My conclusion was that *only* bites kills you immediately. Exactly how this could be is a bit harder to explain, or even accept. Maybe the teeth have bad bacteria, kind of like reptiles? Because everyone's already infected; you die, you become a zombie. The teeth have "other stuff" on them.... hmm yeah, that must be it. ;)
Yeah, they were *very* quick to give up.
After all that build-up (over several episodes); all those motivational speeches, "commercials" and the "we're doing the right thing" mentality...
Within *less than a minute* they'd decided to sell their souls.
Actually, they were in no immediate danger. Taking a breather for a few minutes - or even hours - and thinking about it *was* an option.
First off, sort your grammar out mate. "could of" -> "could have" or "could've" as well as "may of" -> "may have".
But yes I agree. And I can think of a quite simple solution off the top of my head:
<spoiler>
1. move all people a bit away from gulch
2. open at least one gulch gate/door.
3. have the people make some noise.
4. wait .... then close all gates/doors.
5. all walkers outside the gulch!
</spoler>
Might be a cultural thing. I've seen so many "disaster" movies where there's no way in hell the protagonist could survive if it was for real, but does anyway. Because it says so in the script, and triumphant music plays in the background. That's just bad in my book. Emmerich's films spring to mind :)
If it is plausible they might survive, then sure, that (could be) fine. I guess Arctic does fall into this category.
Haven't seen Everest, but I saw it's based on something that actually happened. Then it's kind of a different thing. Essentially because there's proof of the ending. :) (unless the !@#$#! film makers changed it....)
I think I'd like to disagree here.
In my opinion, having either, or both, of them die would make the film mean quite a lot more.
Having both of them survive makes the film just mean, "they had a bad time for a while, but it's all better now". That sounds like a naïve view of what happens when people get stranded in dangerous places. And this isn't a romantic comedy.
It's not unheard of that people get stranded and do in fact die from time to time (no, I have no statistics). That is the logical conclusion to getting stranded without rescue. You will die. It does not matter how much you want to survive.
For more positive outlooks on life like this, I can recommend Threads (1984). ;)
Darn, that was quite old! Missed that completely, reveals how bad my search-fu was/is...
Oh, I see! So someone was annoyed enough to bother with a theory. ;)
Kind of makes sense, except that they don't use firearms that much since it attracts walkers.
Well, yeah. But I realize there probably isn't any in-universe "explanation", it just gets silly...
I guess I was looking for empathy. ;)
Maybe "large-scale" was not what I actually meant. I don't imagine it would be any more expensive than most of the other construction they've made. Probably much less. I'm not expecting them to devote a lot of screen time for these things, mostly just inform the viewer what have been done. Probably show the aftermath :)
