OMG yes........Swanson should have gotten the Oscar that year, and not Judy Holliday!! Judy was a great comedian, but no comparison with the real character performance of Swanson's!! oh well......... -SIGH- She's one of those ladies who need to be 'glammed' up to look good...short hair? GOOD GRIEF she looks like Chris Walken!! - really!! - with her features, she SHOULD NEVER WEAR SHORT HAIR. she needs the softness around her face.......and makeup, for sure. cracks me up how these ladies, who I hear have 'stylists' (tho' maybe not her) and can't tell what they should do with their hair/makeup/clothes for special events......... so, Scarlett, darlin', if you're listening, NO SHORT HAIR FOR YOU wear wigs/pieces if you want, but you are only attractive with softness around your very angular features..............see? holy cow!!! what a great reply........the 1922 was amazing......but not to be TOO picky, (LOL) I was thinking more of actual cellphones that someone held in their hand, like we use them today.. so if you help further, thanks; if not, thanks for the great 'first reply'! what I admired most about her was her 'transformation' as you mention......she created the 'dumb blonde' persona & it worked.....most folks thought she was probably like that in real life..HUH? you say, but really, there are many people who cannot separate an actor from their screen 'persona'. I took my mom to see "7 Year Itch" and asked her what she thought of MM....'well', she said, 'Marilyn has a certain warmth and humility about her".......!!!!!!!!!! after MM passed away, my mom asked if I'd said a prayer for Marilyn.....I told her I hadn't...she said, " well, I did and I think you should too!". My mom passed away in 2000...and to this day I get tears in my eyes thinking about the things she said about MM!!! a lady I wrote to online also said something very interesting.......she said, in effect, that MM showed off her body, but then, that was her trademark, so to speak; she showed it off, but she was never racy!!!..........WOW another great comment from a lady fan!!! well, MM'll always have a place in my heart!! read somewhere that she has over 300,000 followers on Facebook!!!!!! so see, Marilyn, we haven't forgotten you!!!!! RIP dear lady!!! OH no no no no.......I saw it when it first came out...and they DID SHOW THE PHOTO that Caron picks up...that's what made it such a poignant moment!! Sorrrrry to disagree but it's true!!!!!! what a shame......I esp. disliked the Gershwin estate destroying "Porgy & Bess'....so they didn't like it" tough! they were still getting their damn royalties from it, right? as for SOTS, I am so infuriated at this stupidity over racism........ok so it was racist; at the time, no one thought of it the way we do now........NO work of art should be censored/destroyed because of current 'thinking'......(using the word lightly!!) If someone's offended by it, so be it..DON'T SEE IT..no one is twisting your damn arm to watch this movie............ I for one would like to see it.......again, if you are offended by what you hear about it, don't see it, but let others, IN A SUPPOSEDLY FREE DEMOCRACY......see it!!!!! HEY, GREAT THINKING!! I never would have thought of that.......thanks for your reply!!!! so that was one very smart casting director, huh? lol..
