Therefore it must be set within our Universe.
Actually, not necessarily! ET could be set within the Star Wars universe on an alternate planet Earth... The ETs are in it and they visit Earth during the film ET. Therefore it must be set within our Universe. Yeah, that's always annoyed me that - Although slightly differently, I always thought that on screen display was supposed to be showing an angle and it was just me mixing that up with the time. But it still doesn't work because, like you said, it still shoots down far to quickly. Like I was saying further up, it was mainly the continuity issues for me which made it impossible to view as "in canon" with the OT. Plus I'm not particularly a fan of the shut and cut nature of the film. It was too jarringly obvious how they'd kicked out the original director and replaced his work with the Darth Vader fan service stuff, culminating in that stupid video game cut sequence scene. I just really hated it. I mean, I used to hate the prequels but then I just decided to view them in a separate continuity and just go with the comedy nature and the memes, so I now actually love them in another way. But it's not possible to do that with Rogue One as the fun aspect just isn't there, just the annoying non continuity (made even more annoying as, aesthetically at least, it seems closer to the classic Star Wars feel than the prequels ever did). Yeah, I pre booked tickets for the first and second nights and then for the following weekend. I was regretting it half way through the first viewing! Each to their own but I probably hate Rogue One more than any other Star Wars film I've seen. Er, maybe... But I was talking more psychologically how you know it's gone by the age of 39. Maybe you're fine walking until your're 70/80 - who knows - but that's another matter. Haha, that's true. Although to be fair, the Donner Cut removes #2 as I'm sure it has that scene where we see the cops taking them away! True. On a kind of related note, I was laughing lately when watching Adywan's ANH Revisited (a fan edit). When George Lucas made his "special" editions, he did all this stupid stuff like adding Jabba into the first film, yet he didn't even do the basics to actually make the film better. e.g. This Adywan chap changed the Falcon cockpit to show they were moving at light speed when Han is talking to Leia after they escape from the Death Star. The original film just has a star field in the background! And there's a shot of R2D2 replying to threepio also in the Falcon, only R2 is still on the Death Star! So it made me laugh - Whether it was Lucas himself or Disney they do this stupid superfluous nonsense and it's actually just fans fixing details which actually improve the film! I think one understands that their life value, exuberance, spirit / whatever you want to call it is effectively over at 40. Sure you can rail against it for a bit but psychologically you certainly have the formation of understanding that the cheque's in the post. So yeah, it's okay thematically to describe 39 as old... https://swrevisited.wordpress.com/esbr-facts/ Hoth battle:- https://youtu.be/ra76BONkw3c?si=3tgCrW3BadC8ZFqC Couldn't count the OT and prequels but a lot. I know I stupidly saw TPM three times within the first week it came out though! Rogue One once because I was so offended by the stupidity and continuity breakage it caused that I refused to ever watch again. I've never seen Solo because it followed on from TLJ, which as per Rogue One, I saw once in the cinema and was the final straw for me. So that's one view each for TLJ and Rogue One and zero for Solo and TROS. I agree with what you are saying on one level but like I said, within the film series continuity, the plot hole manifests in 6. Not 3. Revenge Of The Sith is in no way a retcon of ROTJ. It is Episode 3 and ROTJ is considered episode 6. So within the film continuity itself, 3 creates the plot hole which shows up in 6. Although I do appreciate your real life understanding of why that happened... Schmaltz. The king of cheese. And the same people who said Trump getting in would mean certain nuclear war the first time he took office! It's actually too deep... I absolutely love it but it's just so thick, I'm struggling not to burst out in tears in front of the missus on multiple occasions! I'd paused watching this since posting these comments as it was too much but I've just restarted. What happens? I'm dealing with Frank putting his career in the line on principle so some busted up loyal cop gets his pension and then Captain Freedom gets shot in cross fire and dies in Mick's arms! Incredible, moving show...
...as long as Biden is President...
That's the problem. He clearly isn't the actual, functioning President and probably hasn't been for some time. The democrats tried to deny, as they'd rather cover that up, than face Trump in Office. And the republicans seemed happy to just laugh about it. But there's still no real answer - Who is / was running the country? And once he's gone, does everyone just pretend this didn't happen, and just blindly believe that Trump is? Well it was a different time in the 70s. Women weren't allowed to do anything and knew there place, so you can't really blame Obi-Wan... Joking aside, we know from ESB that Yoda must have told Obi-Wan off camera, once Luke had disappeared on his way to Bespin:- Obi-Wan: "That boy is our last hope" Yoda: "No. There is another..." Obi-Wan: "Well? Spit it out then..." Yoda: "You won't believe this but it's actually Princess Leia! She's Luke's twin sister. They were separated as infants but we thought it wisest not to tell you incase you landed up blabbering about it to Anakin." Yeah, exactly. Aliens isn't terrible but it's very clearly more of an action film of its time. Plus that problem with the film gain is unbelievable! I can hardly bear watching it. And yes, I haven't seen the latest one yet but otherwise Alien 3 is still closest to the original in terms of horror. Sorry, yes start with ANH (or whatever they could freely call it) and reboot the entire OT. Obi-Wan was sitting in Tatooine doing nothing when Luke was eighteen, showing no evidence of becoming a Jedi. Sure he trained him for ten minutes in the first film but that's no reason why he'd just assume Leia was a no hoper. But it was made in the 70s, so maybe he was just being sexist and assuming women couldn't do anything, hence "That boy was our last hope...". But seriously, making a proper OT-ish sequel trilogy to the prequels would be the way to go. Could get rid of all those issues like Obi-Wan forgetting about Leia, Anakin not being a great pilot when Obi-Wan first met him, Uncle Owen thinking Anakin should have stayed on Tatooine, the force having nothing to do with midi-chlorians, Leia remembering her mother who died in child birth, Han Solo not believing in the force even although there was Jedi everywhere just twenty years before, etc, etc...
