His documentary 'VAL' is on Amazon. It discusses his career and getting throat cancer.
They actually managed to replicate his voice for 'Top Gun: Maverick' using a computer simulation. Pretty incredible.
I was wondering this, too.
It seems that it blew up on TikTok, through a combination of bots juking the algorithm and people feasting on #MeToo content. Then the media picked it up and ran with it.
He gets hung in Matteo Garrone's 'Pinocchio' from 2019, which is pretty faithful to the darker stuff from the original fairytale.
From what I've seen so far, Garrone's film is far superior to Disney's, which is simply a remake of the animated film with a few extra bells and whistles.
I didn't think the dialogue flowed very well, either because the script wasn't strong enough or because the actors weren't up to it, possibly a combination of both.
If you're portraying Comanche culture as the opposite of tradition that's RACIST! I hope the Comanche band protests. Why is there a black guy in the cast? The only non-natives they encountered 300 years ago were Spanish.
The cast of 'Prey' is almost entirely comprised of Native American and First Nation talent, including Amber Midthunder, Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, and Julian Black Antelope. That can be attributed in part to the film's producer Jhane Myers, who is a Sundance Fellow, filmmaker, and Comanche and Blackfeet American Indian.
That seems to be the common thread in the vast majority of these true crime documentaries / podcasts / TV dramas set in small town America.
I think that when people's lives are so repressed, routine and filled with suburban ennui, once they get a small taste of excitement, a lot of them don't know how to process it and craziness ensues.
Enough already.
Why did they have to make the lead a teenage girl?
Seeing an actual Commache warrior face off with the Pred would've been badass.
Tired of woke shit. This is going to be terrible.
The only entry in the 'Predator' franchise without a prominent female character was 'Predator 2'. Half of the films have had tough female lead and co-lead characters.
Aliens vs. Predator - Alexa Woods, a mountaineering guide.
Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem - Kelly O'Brien, a soldier.
Predators - Isabelle, a sniper from the Israel Defense Forces.
A Comanche woman who goes against tradition to become a resourceful fighter isn't some kind of radical game-changer for this series, despite "wokeness" being a hot button topic on the internet in 2022.
Doctor Strange was able to search through 14 million scenarios to find one where Iron Man was able to defeat Thanos.
The Scarlet Witch - who, as a "Nexus being", is already more powerful than Doctor Strange (and also has the Darkhold boosting her powers) - was able to find the one parallel Earth where the children she mystically created in Westview were actually real, presumably fathered by a flesh-and-blood Vision.
If this seems "unrealistic", that's just how these movies and TV series roll. We already saw in 'Loki' that there is a parallel Earth where Thor is a super-powered frog wearing a tiny helmet.
I do agree that Wanda coming to terms with her trauma over the course of 'WandaVision', but then turning into a supervillain during a 10-second post-credit scene, was rushed.
The Scarlet Witch is just a messily-written character, both in the comics and film.
We see him training in martial arts during the first film. All of the sorcerers at Kamar-Taj seem to be expert martial artists.
My impression was that they were magical constructs who could only survive within the "Hex" on Earth-616, but they were real children on Earth-838.
She wanted to be with the flesh-and-blood versions, not to make more illusions.
There was no internal logic to the scene, but I guess you could say the same for the one in 'Infinity War' where Thanos' hurls a black hole at Strange, who turns it into a swarm of butterflies.
If I had to guess, I'd say Sam Raimi was just bored with character's shooting energy beams at each other.
....does this movie only have a 6.7 on IMDB?? It's a solid thought-provoking sci-fi film with a good concept and barely any flaws. Should be at least a 7.5, so what happened?
Mainstream audiences hate "downbeat" endings i.e. Mother winning, the reveal that the young heroine was manipulated all along, and the robot murdering Swank's character on the beach.
Personally, I thought this film was brilliant (and the only good Netflix Original science-fiction movie, as far as I'm aware).
My impression was that Clark goes out of his way to live like a normal human so that he can relate to them, which is why he doesn't exploit his powers for his personal benefit.
Using his abilities for financial gain would just further separate him from the rest of mankind, and then it becomes a slippery slope until he loses his humanity.
I would rank this beneath both Burton and Nolan's 'Batman' films.
It's overly long and mostly fine. Those other films were iconic, though.
1) The box would remind people that the monsters were a constant threat, despite the safety of the totems. It also means they wouldn't have to appoint an executioner among the survivors - they just lock the person in and walk away.
2) Perhaps the mother let her guard down, just once, since there had been no attacks for such a long stretch of time. Maybe she assumed the second floor of the building would be safer. The husband losing his wife and child was punishment, but it also meant he couldn't be relied upon in the community.
3) You can't monitor your child all through the night, unless you tie them down or something. I guess these people just got unlucky and were assigned to a house which only had bedrooms with windows. Then again, as we see with Victor, windows are the easiest way to escape if monsters breach the house.
If anything led to studios reevaluating their relationships with Depp, I would have thought it was the infamous Rolling Stone interview published in June 2018. He sounded like a disaster zone:
https://www.rollingstone.com/feature/the-trouble-with-johnny-depp-666010/
The article, pitched by Depp’s lawyer, Adam Waldman, was designed to discuss the “injustice being done to Depp’s reputation and bottom line” in light of legal battles with his former business managers.
Upon entering Depp’s rented mansion in London’s Highgate neighborhood, journalist Stephen Rodrick describes encountering “the stogie-size joint left by the sink in the guest bathroom” and “the never-ending reservoir of wine that is poured into goblets.” Depp insisted that The Management Group’s claims against him were wrong about spending $US30,000 a month on wine. “It’s insulting to say that I spent $US30,000 on wine,” he said. “Because it was far more.”
Depp also talks about preferring to be fed lines through an ear piece and constantly arguing with screenwriters over his 'Pirates of the Caribbean' character.
All of this is by his own admission. Perhaps Heard's accusations were the last straw, but Depp's image and finances were already spiraling.
From what I gather, Moon Knight is the superheroic identity of Marc, Steven and Jake when they are wearing the costume. It isn't another personality. This is demonstrated when Steven transforms into his own unique-looking version of the hero.
Doctor Strange 2 has been banned in Egypt, UAE, and Iraq over LGBTQ+ content, as refused release in China.
Thanks! Interesting stuff.
don't come up with conspiracy theories to explain why critics don't see Venom as the cinematic masterpiece that you see.
No, what I wrote was: "I did enjoy 'Venom' and it's sequel for what they were - silly but surprisingly entertaining fluff."
What you wrote was: "[Eternals is] more of an art house film than a superhero film."
I disagree with all of your opinions, but I'm glad we can agree that there is no shame in enjoying something other than Marvel movies.
