>Why do people get so hung up on casting actors that look identical to their descriptions in the book?
Because thats what the characters are supposed to be. How a character looks is important to that character. Especially when a large part of the plot is political intrigue.
Appreciating beauty is bigotry.
Look up how some of the hasburg - the most powerful dynasty in europe at one point - daughters looked.
No wonder he replaced her first chance he got.
Spielberg keeps rehashing the same mediocre idea all his career, hardly a measure of quality.
Great visuals is about the only positive about this movie. Acting and writing was mediocre at best, choreography was awful.
The baron levitates on his own power in the second movie. the suspenders are very clearly not holding him up. In fact the only time he drops to the ground is when his spine-machine is damaged by a sword.
So about as useful as she was in the first two movies?
Same as the first one. Intrigue was lackluster and technology made no sense. Also a complete zero of military tactics and formation during the battles. I can understand the cavemen to use guerilla tactics and just throw bodies at the enemy (yeah, right, as if), but the armies of the houses should have behaved much better. Choreographers should have looked at some real medieval battles.
Fremen wouldnt waste water on showers...
Bathing is a waste of water. Now holding tons of water in a cave because of religiuos belief, thats smart thinking.
Good effects, okay political plotting, insane use of technology and tactics. Both first and second movie same (and the books too).
If i know there are a bunch of terrorists with RPGs lying in bushes id use a tank. In fact Armored Personnel carriers exist specifically because of this situation.
Same reason shields work or not depending on what part of the plot we are. Herbert said his technology only exists to serve plot and does not make logical sense.
If you read the books youd know the source material wasnt the best to begin with. Herbert himself has said that technology in Dune books does not make sense and only exist to fit his narrative.
Thats just nonsense. Female leads became majority somewhere around the 80s or late 70s, especially in horror.
Is she a bad person? Yes. Is she less bad person than anyone else in the crew? Yes.
They have plenty, i just wish they would be adapting those instead of rehashing same old. Probably wouldnt be popular. Black pharaoh letters are very interesting read, i suggest you look them up. Youll see nothing really changed. Heres an example: "Seven blessings on you. I have more soldiers so send me women and gold."
Yes, original fairy tales would have had the mermaid eat the prince. Original fairy tales also have mermaide be pale skinned and fish-featured. The kind of pale of a drowned man. Christian Andersen would be spinning in his grave if someone suggested a black mermaid.
Mermaids are by definition white. They have pale skin and fish like features. Their job is to lure european sailors to their doom. They are vicious. Mermaids are white european lore that got disnified.
