First movie in many years to bring me to tears My interpretation of the ending Why did Verdell choose Melvin over his owner ? Flavor Flav should have played Bridget Nielson's new husband Significance of student reading out loud at the end View all posts >

Means it's not "woke" and the critics try to bash it Dancing in the dark by Bruce Springsteen alone made it the best act Crazy that I wrote this 2 years ago and it becomes relevant in my life now. I moved to Vegas just before everything shut down. My new landlord/roommate got laid off and has been working in Cali so I have been staying with her dog, the cutest, sweetest boxer in the world. With bars and such closed I rarely leave the house and don't have many friends out here, its just me and the dog, all the time. Away from family and so many close friends that I am used to being around, it has been the loneliest time of my life. Without this dog I certainly would have given up on a dream of a new life and moved back home by now, she is a Godsend. My roomie jokes that she is upset her dog loves me more than her now. She says she is joking but I always say "there is a little truth to every joke" I tell her what my mom has always said "love is not bound" Its ironic that since I started this thread 2 years ago, I overheard my mother on speaker phone one night when she was asked which one of her 3 boys does she love the best. She replied... well, I always say I love them the same and I do, but I think I do love one the best sometimes, it's whichever one needs you the most at the time. I explained to roomie that this is why her dog may appear to love me more, I need her tremendously right now. With her mom being gone, she has also needed me and I think that makes me love the dog even more. With all respect to the other responses, I don't think Verdell appeared to love Melvin more than Simon for comical effect and I don't think it was because Melvin was the last person to love or feed him. Melvin had noone in his life that loved him and needed Verdell more than anyone. I think it was a very well written way to purvey this fact. Agreed, great post. Thanks View all replies >
