It is outlined. She says she's a foreign exchange student. And she is obviously sleeping there and looking after the kid while the mom works. That's a nanny. Not everything needs to be specifically stated if you can interpret context clues.

I don't think it's the only thing but the most valuable thing they have. Most of America has been destroyed I believe. Which means no goods. Mexico wanted handmaids to repopulate the area. When most of the population is dying out and most people are sterile, don't you think a way to repopulate is pretty important?
