obviously you didnt skim the boards because articulate explanations for exactly why there has been a backlash against this film are freaking everywhere. just look at maul's reply up there.
That is why i call you "abusive." because i refuse to believe you are unaware of the very valid criticisms of this movie, and are only on here asking dumb questions to get on people's nerves. yeah its just the internet, but still.
we are not throwing temper tantrums, I for one am just angry at how the quality of these movies has objectively gone straight down the shitter. i will generously repeat for you why: this script and story is a pile of shit. im not even a star wars fan and im appalled at how this movie takes these beloved characters and turns them into reprehensible idiots.
basically my personal opinion is that you should be fined or something for paying to see this, because it means the assholes at Disney will keep making this bullshit and polluting my life with a crap culture.
i love great movies. i love great literature. there are tons of brilliant writers out there starving to write the next great "Touch of Evil" or "Time Bandits" or even "Toxic Avenger."
But TLJ is SHIT. i am offended that what we get is shit, given Hollywood's resources. and i'm frustrated that most people just slurp it up. then they tend to insult me just because i'm smart enough to perceive scriptwriting that's bubbled out of a dead whale's butthole.

i agree with the vindictive tone as well. why? because i'm tired of seeing people like the OP stick up for shit movies in this way. like, really? you couldn't be bothered to skim the boards for thirty seconds and find why people are sick of this shit? they insult those with justifiable criticism, and they use shitty reasoning. it's a fairly sophisticated form of trolling, of abuse.
we've seen this stupid shit play out over and over again too. Ghostbusters 2016. "It" 2017. The Dark Tower. Kubo and the Two Strings (it had an atrociously bad story). All offensively uninspired fucking hack jobs, yet we keep seeing people defend them in this way, with this convoluted logic that never adds up to anything substantial.

well if u want to compare it to the mini-series, all of it was different. in a bad way.
this remake/re-adaptation/whatever-the-hell sucks, but not all do. it's just that all of them from the last like fifteen years do. "the Blob" and "the Fly" were 80s remakes that were actually good.
she is the new Luke Skywalker, the new protagonist who is walking the same road to Jedi-dom and self-mastery that Luke did. This is an interesting plot device, introducing new blood to the story that might lead up to a re-introduction of the beloved Luke, whom we'd then get to see as a full-fledged Jedi.
her being a girl, in and of itself, would not be bad writing if it weren't for the fact that her exceptional skills make no sense in the context of how her character was written:
she is a prole, and the offspring of proles, without the genetic material for greatness of the caliber she is made out to be. It was already established that Jedi potential is inherited. It's possible that she's simply a freak, but it's so unlikely that it's stupid.
Her character becomes even more ridiculous and fartworthy when almost overnight, she learns skills that took Luke Skywalker a long time and intensive training. And she also manages, without training, to psychically fend off a mind-rape from the Emperor's top man (Kylo Ren). This is ridiculous, like an eighteen-year-old boxing novice beating up a Navy SEAL.
Given these details, she is not believable. Oh, and even though she makes her living working in a fucking garbage dump in the hot sun, apparently in a place like a third-world country, she looks like a painstakingly pampered Disney starlet.
No sunburns? No blisters? No dirt? No shitty hygeine? No lack of education apparent in her speech? Where'd she learn to talk like that? Where'd she learn to read? Where are all the men looking to pork her? Who protects her?
Rey needed to be a girl because it would make money. And it would make money because most people aren't smart enough to notice that her character is badly written, they just see that it's "a new Luke Skywalker, but a girl this time." Plus many people buy into the lie that men and women are interchangeable, and this indulges that belief.
Let me translate the OP for people who aren't retarded:
"Dear sheep who are disturbed by those who are capable of understanding why the Last Jedi was yet another placental afterbirth of typical Hollywood dreck, come congregate at my stupid website. There we shall mock the people who are smart enough to notice patterns, appreciate good writing, and care about art that uplifts the soul. Instead of shitty CGI, one-dimensional characters, gay-ass political propaganda, and industry nepotism."
