I haven't seen enough remakes to offer a truly informed opinion. However I did think it a fine effort. Denzel was superb as always. While the diverse cast has drawn some criticism on these boards, I hadn't noticed it until I read the complaints here. My biggest and main complaint is that the original theme song was not used!!! The song made the original uplifting and fun. Its absence here rendered this film much darker and violent. I recommend the film.
